The first 2m+1 terms consist of m 1s, m 4s, and the final term 4 for a sum m+4m+4=5m+4.

@susie_dent@hayfestival Names are probably a rich source of these. I thought a character's name from The Broons was pronounced Daffn. Despite there being a Daphne in Scooby Doo, making that connection between the spoken and written word was too much for my younger self.

It does make it easier to see by moving the shaded segment - but it must swap places with the unshaded segment and not just cover it over, and that is why it's not 1/2
@74WTungsteno No. Each tile must cover exactly one white and one black square if you imagine a checkerboard pattern imposed on the 10x10 board, but with the removal of the two corner squares there is no longer an equal share of both.
