@Sasha_Screens Such a fun movie! Wasn’t familiar with Cianfrance but it was really sweet and heartwarming for what could have been a pretty standard comedy movie.
Lots of single elements to admire about The Odyssey. Cyclops scene is superb. Loved James Remar and Elliot Page. I just don’t feel it adding up to something greater than the sum of its parts – at least not as much as I’d hoped. I hope I’ll feel a little different on rewatch.
Don’t think it’ll be a Nolan fav of mine. Despite how excellent some scenes are on their own (👁️) I didn’t entirely feel an emotional core to connect everything until maybe the end. Might change my mind on a rewatch, I’d be happy to see it a second time.
@words_salad I share some of your complaints. Think in terms of writing it’s not his strongest; I didn’t really feel an emotional core until the very end.
Saw The Furious, finally. Xie Miao and Brian Le genuinely seem to be possessed by a snake and a pitbull in this, respectively. Didn’t know human beings could move like that.
2/3 into first season of Prison Break. Everything on the inside is good stuff; most of the plot on the outside feels like a teenager’s interpretation of a government conspiracy. Alan J. Pakula set a high bar. That Kellerman agent is also just not intimidating at all.
