Good evening @RepRoKhanna. We hope you had a nice Saturday.
Several people have requested we comment on your post. We will quickly before we take Mrs. USOGA out for date night.
First - like you, we hope this war will end soon and things will return to normal. Until then - things will be what they will be.
But high gas prices in your district aren’t “Trump’s war”—they’re Sacramento’s doing.
California drivers pay nearly double the national average in state taxes, plus cap-and-trade, Low Carbon Fuel Standard, unique reformulated gasoline, refinery limits, and geographic isolation that blocks cheap imports.
That adds $1.00–$1.78+ over the U.S. average.
Here is our suggestion. Your proposed windfall profits tax will do nothing to bring relief to your overtaxed and underappreciated constituents.
Instead -suspend those state-level taxes first and bring California prices in line with the national average.
Put your state bureaucracy on a diet. They could stand to shed a few pounds.
Encourage California domestic oil and gas production and expand your refinery capacity instead of shutting it down.
Stand up to your Governor. You know he is wrong and you can be on the right side of things
And let's talk windfall profits tax.
They don't work. While you don't call it a windfall profits tax, California recently passed one and called it a "wealth tax" now you see high net worth individuals fleeing your state.
History proves it backfires.
The 1980 Crude Oil Windfall Profit Tax cut domestic production 1–8% (hundreds of millions of barrels lost), boosted imports 3–13%, raised far less revenue than projected after deductions, created massive bureaucracy, and was repealed in 1988 because it discouraged supply exactly when America needed more.
That in turn led us to depend even more on Middle East imports for another 20 years right up until the shale revolution occurred. Kind of like how California is dependent on imports now.
Your repeated sponsorship of a new Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax Act would repeat the exact same mistake—shrinking U.S. output and raising costs.
Crude exports? They expand global supply, narrow price spreads (WTI-Brent) which is exerts downward pressure on world prices.
It is directly helping allies in Europe and Asia counter China's skirting sanctions and colluding with Iran to purchase crude at huge discounts.
Restricting exports would tighten markets, spike costs everywhere—including here—and hurt the consumers you claim to protect.
Finally we must also point out that
your voting record shows consistent opposition to our industry you want to tax. For example, you:
Voted against leasing more public lands and waters for oil drilling (2023, Roll Call 23).
Voted against reversing land-management protections to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to oil and gas drilling—multiple times, including 2025 Roll Call 295 and earlier efforts to halt ANWR development.
Opposed critical oil and gas leasing reforms and fast-tracking fossil-fuel infrastructure (2024 Roll Call 95; 2025 votes undermining LNG authority and blocking fracking bans).
Voted NO on NDAA provisions that would expedite oil/gas permitting (2022–2023).
You have a 99% lifetime League of Conservation Voters score—near-perfect opposition to domestic energy exploration, production and leasing.
You’ve led hearings attacking us and sponsored bills to repeal industry tax provisions.
Fine—own that record.
But please stop shifting blame to “Trump’s war” or federal policy while California’s own choices keep your constituents paying the highest pump prices in America.
Real relief comes from more American supply + streamlined permitting, not recycled 1980s taxes or more restrictions.
Energy abundance, not rhetoric, lowers prices and bolsters U.S. and allied security.
Mrs. USOGA has instructed us to put the phone away so we will do that.
Have a good weekend.
Liftoff.
The Artemis II mission launched from @NASAKennedy at 6:35pm ET (2235 UTC), propelling four astronauts on a journey around the Moon.
Artemis II will pave the way for future Moon landings, as well as the next giant leap — astronauts on Mars.
This should be the biggest story in the country right now.
Barksdale is the HQ for our B52 nuclear bombers, it's where Bush sheltered on 9/11, and the drones are reported as "far more sophisticated than anything seen in Ukraine ... and well beyond Iranian capabilities."
I AM LIVING IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE — AND THE DEMOCRATS ARE WRITING THE SCRIPT
I have a confession.
I have been doing this — writing, posting, arguing, educating — for over a year now. Over 51,000 posts. I have seen a LOT. I have watched Hakeem Jeffries (@RepJeffries) hold up a giant letter of the alphabet like a kindergarten teacher who wandered into a Speaker's podium. I have watched Adam Schiff read fabricated phone call transcripts into the Congressional Record — on the record, in the United States Congress — and then explain with a straight face that it was "parody." I have seen things.
But this week? This week broke something in me.
Not in a sad way. In a "am I being pranked?" way.
--- LET ME EXPLAIN WHAT JUST HAPPENED ---
Democrats refused to fully fund DHS. That includes TSA. You know — the people standing between your grandma and her carry-on and the security checkpoint. Congress controls that funding. Article I. Section 8. That is not my opinion, that is the DOCUMENT. The Constitution they claim to love so much it hurts.
So the lines built. People missed flights. Airports started looking like the DMV on the last day of the month. TSA call-out rates at JFK hit FORTY-FOUR PERCENT. And who do Democrats blame?
Donald Trump.
The man who does not write the budget. The man who is not in Congress. The man whose job under Article II is to EXECUTE the laws, not write the checks. But sure. Him.
Now here is where I started looking around for Rod Serling.
ICE is funded. The same CR that left TSA short? ICE went through. So the president — and I want you to really absorb this — USED THE FUNDED AGENCY to fill the gap left by the unfunded one. Lines dropped. Average wait at Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta fell under 40 minutes. Travelers were making their flights. Problem mostly solved.
The Democrats are FURIOUS.
No — really. Furious. That the lines got shorter. That people made their flights. That the plan to strand Americans in airport terminals and blame Trump for the chaos... did not work.
Quinn's Law Number 1: liberalism always generates the exact opposite of its stated intent. Every. Single. Time.
--- THEN CORY BOOKER SHOWED UP ---
Senator Cory Booker sprinted — physically ran — to an airport. Not to help. Not to push a funding solution through the Senate he sits in. No. He ran to a camera to deliver an impassioned speech about how ICE... is bad... at an airport where the lines just got shorter.
He did not mention Stephanie Mentor. He did not mention a single American family torn apart by criminal illegal aliens who were here because the border was left open for four years under Biden's Autopen.
He mentioned ICE. The agency that just helped people catch their flights. That one.
I want to be very precise here because precision matters: Senator Booker, you had the power to fund TSA. You sit in the building where that happens. You chose not to. The lines built because of YOUR inaction. The lines shrank because someone used available resources to compensate for YOUR inaction. And you are angry about the shrinking.
That is not a political disagreement. That is a man being upset that his plan to hurt people failed.
--- HERE IS THE PART THAT SHOULD MAKE YOUR BLOOD BOIL ---
This is not new. I need you to understand that.
Barack Obama. Government shutdown. Open-air monuments — places with NO roofs, NO staff, NO maintenance costs — were physically barricaded. They put CONES on freeway pulloffs so you could not even slow down on the highway to look at Mount Rushmore through your car window. No operational reason. None. The only purpose was to make the pain of a government shutdown as visible and miserable as possible, so the political blame would land on Republicans.
They spent money — actual taxpayer money and actual federal manpower — to make sure you suffered enough to demand the Democrats get what they wanted.
They did not hate conservatives. They hated you. Regular Americans. Using you as leverage.
Different year. Same party. Same play.
And here we are again. Same script. Different airport.
--- THE CODE PINK EPILOGUE ---
I almost did not include this part because I was not sure anyone would believe it.
The protesters who showed up OUTSIDE the Atlanta airport to rage against ICE — including Code Pink, the professional agitators — subsequently went on vacation. To Cuba. A communist country. Stayed in government hotels while actual Cuban citizens live without consistent electricity, cannot speak freely, and cannot leave.
These are the people who were just screaming about oppression at the airport where the wait time fell under 40 minutes.
I genuinely have run out of words. I tried to find them. They are not available.
--- THE BOTTOM LINE, AND I MEAN IT ---
The Democrats will not fund TSA. That is a choice they made. Congress controls the purse — Article I, Section 8 — and if you want to be angry at someone for the airport chaos, start THERE.
The president used the resources available. It worked. Democrats raged.
That is the whole story. I know it sounds too absurd to be real. I know it sounds like I am exaggerating for effect. I am a science teacher — exaggerating for effect is not actually my thing. Exaggerating for effect is what you do when you do not have the facts. I have the facts. Which is why I do not need to exaggerate anything.
They do not want a solution. They want you scared, stranded, suffering, and looking to the government — specifically THEIR version of the government — as your only possible source of relief.
That is the play. It has always been the play. And the only reason I am this angry about it is because it keeps working on people who do not know to look for it.
Now you know. Look for it.
But what do I know — I am only a science teacher and former Army combat medic who, unlike most of the people causing this mess, actually reads Article I before forming an opinion about who controls the budget.

Today, I gave a speech honoring the life and legacy of Wes Rucker. Wes was a valued member of the East Tennessee community, a dedicated Vol fan, and most importantly, a loving father and husband.
Please join me in praying for his family and the @wbir community.
Hello Senator Thune,
Let's expose what you're really doing with "reconciliation."
You announced it yesterday, eleven months after the House passed the SAVE America Act. You're not trying to pass this bill. You're trying to kill it in a way you can blame on process.
Here's how we know:
Reconciliation requires the Senate parliamentarian to rule that provisions are "budgetary." Citizenship verification is not budgetary. Photo ID mandates are not budgetary. The parliamentarian will gut the bill. Then you'll shrug and say "we tried." We see through you.
Meanwhile, you WON'T use the tools that actually work:
Rule XIX limits each senator to two speeches per legislative day. Keep the Senate in continuous session, file cloture daily, and the filibuster exhausts in ~12-20 days. You dismissed it as "complicated." Because if you tried and succeeded, you'd have to actually pass the bill.
Harry Reid nuked the filibuster in 2013 when he wanted results.
Mitch McConnell changed Senate rules THREE times and canceled the August recess.
Chuck Schumer used reconciliation within months on a 50-50 Senate.
You have 53 seats. You've changed nothing, canceled nothing, and waited eleven months.
Now let's talk donors:
• Goldman Sachs: $150K to you - top H-1B user
• Google: $75K - lobbies against E-Verify
• Meta: $72.5K - Zuckerberg's FWD[.]us pushes mass immigration
• Wells Fargo: $90K - banks undocumented immigrants
Same corporations sponsor Punchbowl News, where you sit for "Fly Out Days" which nobody watches except Congress staffers and K Street lobbyists who pays premium bucks for legislative intelligence. Their reporter then telegraphs to the audience the SAVE Act "will ultimately fail."
Corporate money flows to you AND to the outlet that frames your inaction as inevitable.
We see the loop.
You called grassroots anger a "paid influencer ecosystem." YOU are the paid influencer. You take the wrong side of a 80% issue because you are indistinguishable from a K Street mouthpiece, and an ineffective one to boot who won't bend the rules to get anything passed.
What we want:
1. Force a real talking filibuster.
2. Stop hiding behind process.
3. Pass the SAVE America Act.
YOU will become the reason that we will have our butts kicked in midterms. Not Candace Owens, not Nick Fuentes, not anyone else. You and you alone, and all because you want to make the 200 or so viewers of Punchbowl Fly Out Days happy. You're living in a K Street information bubble, addicted to the comforts and praises of lobbyists masquerading as journalists. You mistake the steak and martini dinners you get invited to as your own constituents.
You are not "moderate." The SAVE America Act has 98% support among Republicans. Name one other thing that has 98% support. You are an extreme minority who prides himself on being a calm leader, when in reality you are well in the running for the most ineffective Majority leader of all time.
Prove me wrong. Do the bare modicum of effort. Not symbolic. Actual effort. Cancel the recess. Get SAVE America Act passed.
Senator, before we even get to your numbers — a quick question.
How was the OLIGARCH TOUR?
Because the man who has spent his entire political career shrieking about billionaires just watched the following happen in real time during YOUR party's shutdown:
Timothy Mellon — a reclusive billionaire heir to the Mellon banking fortune — wrote a $130 MILLION personal check to cover military pay when your colleagues left our troops wondering if they would get paid. A private citizen. Writing a check. Because Congress would not do its job.
Elon Musk — the oligarch you spent all of 2024 warning us about — OFFERED TO PAY TSA SALARIES when DHS was running understaffed during active combat operations against Iran.
President Trump sent ICE agents — the same ones your party spent years calling terrorists — to BACKFILL the TSA so airports could stay open while your colleagues held the budget hostage over a problem they invented.
The oligarchs you hate are the heroes of this story, Senator. The government you want to expand into every corner of American life literally could not keep its airports staffed without a billionaire writing a personal check. That is your case for more government. Right there. In real time.
Now. Let us talk about your math. I teach science. I grade this kind of work for a living. And Senator, this would not pass my class.
"Netanyahu led Trump into this war."
Iran has called us THE GREAT SATAN since 1979. Not Israel. US. They seized OUR embassy. They killed 241 of OUR Marines in their sleep in Beirut in 1983. They engineered IEDs specifically designed to punch through OUR armored vehicles in Iraq. Between 600 and 800 American soldiers killed by Iranian-supplied weapons between 2003 and 2011 alone. U.S. federal courts ruled Iran legally responsible for the Khobar Towers bombing. They plotted to assassinate OUR president. TWICE.
Iran calls Israel "the Little Satan." We are the HEADLINER. We have been the headliner since the day they stormed our embassy and held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days. Netanyahu did not drag us into this. Iran declared war on America four decades before this operation started. You just never bothered to read their press releases.
Now let us go through your list, since you presented it as a cost ledger. I will show my work, unlike whoever wrote your post.
"13 U.S. troops killed." Tragic. Confirmed by the Pentagon. Iran's retaliatory strikes did that — drone and missile attacks on U.S. bases. Iran pulled the trigger. You listed it under American costs while giving Iran zero line items. That is not accounting. That is a magic trick.
"1,200+ Iranian civilians killed." Sourced from Iranian STATE MEDIA. The same regime that killed 40,000 of its own protesters in recent crackdowns is now your trusted casualty-count authority. The same regime that embeds IRGC weapons caches in civilian neighborhoods and then counts what happens next as civilian deaths. I circle that data point in red and write "check your source" next to it.
"3.2 million Iranians displaced." From a population that went into the streets CELEBRATING when Khamenei was killed. Women walking outside without hijab for the first time in 46 years, knowing the price of doing so, doing it anyway. That is not a people who wanted their regime protected. Those are 85 million hostages who finally saw daylight. You listed their liberation as a cost.
"773 killed in Lebanon." Hezbollah — Iran's fully-funded proxy — launched attacks in support of Iran the moment Operation Epic Fury began. Israel responded. Iran caused those deaths through the network it has been financing for decades. Put it in Iran's column, not ours.
"$16.5 billion in 12 days." Real number. Here is the number you left off: Biden's Autopen unfroze over $100 BILLION in Iranian assets and handed them sanctions relief — directly to a regime that funneled every available dollar to Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and the proxy militias shipping weapons across the Iraqi border to kill Americans in uniform. You helped fund this operation for years. Now you are putting the response on Trump's tab. Fascinating accounting.
But here is the part that ends the argument, Senator. The part where — and I genuinely mean this — my NINE-YEAR-OLD can do this math. So I am optimistic you have at least a 50/50 shot.
We now know Iran had an ICBM program.
Intercontinental. Ballistic. Missiles.
Before Operation Epic Fury, Iran had approximately 460 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60 percent. Not 5 percent for civilian power plants. Not 20 percent for research reactors. SIXTY. Weapons grade is 90 percent. The technical distance between 60 percent enriched uranium and a deployable nuclear device — with the centrifuge infrastructure Iran had already built — is measured in WEEKS. Not years. Weeks.
Now add the ICBM program.
ICBM plus weapons-grade uranium does not equal regional deterrence. It does not equal leverage in Geneva negotiations. It does not equal a bargaining chip.
ICBM plus weapons-grade uranium equals a nuclear strike on the continental United States.
On us. The Great Satan. The country Iran has been publicly, officially, theologically promising to destroy since 1979.
I teach physics, Senator. So let me ask you to walk me through — slowly, using small words if that helps — what the correct response is when a regime that has spent 46 years calling for our destruction gets within weeks of combining a nuclear warhead with a delivery system that reaches American cities.
Is the answer another pallet of unmarked cash on a midnight plane? More sanctions relief? Another round of Geneva negotiations where they turn down free nuclear fuel forever because enrichment was never about energy in the first place?
Or is the answer exactly what happened?
The math is right there. Even a 9-year-old can see it.
But what do I know — I am only a science teacher and Army combat medic who actually spent time in a country where Iran's proxy networks were trying to kill the people I was responsible for keeping alive, and who apparently still remembers that when someone spends 46 years telling you they want to destroy you, you should probably take them at their word.
