William Thomson, best known as Lord Kelvin, was born #OTD in 1824.
Matriculating at the University of Glasgow at the age of ten, he later held the Chair of Natural Philosophy for 53 years. In 1904, he was elected Chancellor of the University, a position he held until his death in December 1907. He is buried beside Isaac Newton in Westminster Abbey.
This week, we're celebrating his life and legacy through a series of events to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth.
