Back today after being out of commission for a while. I lost my dad about 10 days ago. We were close. I knew the day would come, he was declining health-wise, but it didn't soften the blow. But he lived a full life and we spent good time together recently and that is comforting.

Long Read: If you want to know more about @Mike_Taylor1972 My wife, Jill gets me coffee in bed every morning. It is a ritual that started a decade ago when I could not work. I could not get out of bed, for what turned into years. I suffer from an autoimmune condition called Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA), a condition (don’t like the word disease) where my T-cells are eating the connective tissue around my spine, neck and larger joints. I am a rare aggressive case, presenting at 43 yrs old, one that did not respond to classical treatments. Within a year of symptom onset, I was in agonizing, constant pain, standing, sitting and lying down, every minute of every day. It even hurt to breathe and I labored under short, tiny breaths. My days consisted of bed to bathtub to couch to bed. I vomited often. A big day for me was walking (assisted) 1 block to the cafe, just to see daylight. Several times I needed a car to get home. Several times I passed out from pain. Every time Jill was there to save me. The doctors did not know what to do with me - pain like that is a rarity, so bad I could not focus my eyes to read, could not keep food down, could not carry a conversation and from sleep deprivation, could not keep track of what day it was. This lasted for 5 years until we found a surgical solution to treat nerves around my neck/spine - and I began to improve. The year was 2020 - suddenly Covid hit. I was improving, but still very, very ill in 2020. I was up for a few hours a day, but I could read and begin to catch up with the past 5 years I had lost. In March 2020, I reviewed the first cut of the Covid DNA sequencing - as a former Virologist IMHO this was 100% a manmade construct and I felt compelled to warn the world. I called my old friend @KeithMcCullough @Hedgeye and even though I was a mess, even though I had to wear makeup and take enough pain meds to sedate a small country, I HAD to share with the investing world what Covid was about to do. Graciously, Keith put me on and after that, again and again and again. And I thank him for it. It gave me inspiration to fight to recover. As a wily Scotsman, fight I did. I muddled, getting nerves microwaved every month in different sections to provide incremental relief. My surgeon has golden-hands and we together developed a process where if I took no anesthesia I could help him get “a better burn” with more closely-placed electrodes on the medial-branch nerves - the results were deeper and longer lasting. It’s also laughably painful to have a half dozen catheters penetrating deep in the spine and nerves burned without anesthesia. It’s a team effort, I can feel when we are close enough (1 mm) and could guide his hand. I have been on that table >50x. I was starting to see a second-chance on the horizon and @Hedgeye and @profplum99 kindly supported me. Second chances at life are rare. I will never let that gift go to waste: So I took a big leap and started to participate. It was time to GIVE-BACK my time, love and effort, for the Investing World, for my family and for a community that is dear to my heart, cancer patients. I started goKarting with Max. @Simplify /@profplum99 set up the $PINK fund. So to speak we are off to the Races. In the past 5 years, Max turned out to have an incredible gift. He is a national and world champion in Karts and Cars - this year in @INDYNXT with @AndrettiGlobal (I can hardly believe what this recent hobby has turned into) $PINK over the past 4 years has turned in top decile performance. @Simplify has been instrumental. And we are on-track to deliver $Millions to the @SusanGKomen foundation. (Invest for the Cure!) Last year we found a permanent solution with @DeukSpine, a new procedure to vaporize nerves. It has changed my life. While I will never be 100%, I am now a Husband, a Dad and a contributing member of society. I cherish this second chance. Jill, thank you for the coffee.
