@RandalRauser I appreciate your work, but this comment is a clear miss. Of course they know God is omnipresent. But God's presence & activity is not always manifest w/ the same intensity in all times and places. E.g., OT Shekinah glory; NT encounters with the Spirit (Acts 2,4,8,10,19).

@DavidDark @wakesndogs No, I think we are responsible. But again, even if it were said in person, I wouldn't take TK's statement as SA. It is a personal strong conviction, probably overstated. But there's no coercion here unless he employs tactics to hinder my ability to disagree or think it through.

@benintn @DavidDark @rickpidcock I'm sensitive to SA as well & teach & advocate for identifying all AoP in Xn organizations. But too quickly labeling SA doesn't help in the long run. We need clear criteria. Offering life wisdom abt what I think is most important for Xn faith (Bible, serving poor, etc) isn't SA.

@benintn @DavidDark @rickpidcock But SA is not the same as strongly sharing a conviction. We have all likely overspoke a conviction with good intent. It's true that in repetitive doses this could be harmful. But unless there's careless or malicious attempt to coerce psychologically, I'm reticent to call it SA.

@benintn @DavidDark @rickpidcock SA, like AoP can occur many times w/o the intent of the offender, although we usually should know better. So AoP and SA needs to be judged by both its harm (it needs to be addressed) and also intent (when it comes to the level of discipline for the offender). 4/...

@DavidDark @benintn @rickpidcock Spiritual abuse needs to be more than simply sharing a conviction (even if overstated). It has to coerce & violate personal boundaries, (mis)using God as the authority behind my coercion. TK's post is not using coercive language IMO.

@DavidDark @benintn @rickpidcock I just didn't think TK's post was aimed at shaming anyone. It was focused on his belief that reading the Bible is really important. He believes this and is stating it. There's no, "& if you don't you're a failure & hopeless" etc. 1/2
