“According to the city's Mobility Plan, this portion of Soto was approved for new protected bike lanes, but the city implemented basic unprotected lanes instead.”
Tired of hearing this? So are we. Vote for @healthystreetla this March.
Here we go again.
The NY Times cannot find anything positive to say about the most healthy and climate-friendly transportation innovation of the last decade.
In 6 days, the NY Times has run 4 articles about e-bikes -- all negative.
A few other stories the paper might consider:
🔹 E-bikes pollute far less than even electric cars
🔹 Compared to autos, e-bikes pose minimal risk to other people
🔹 Unlike cars, e-bikes provide exercise
Santa Monica's Housing Element is WORKING!
Since early June, 1,210 new units have been proposed. All enabled with our new zoning.
This is a huge deal - about 3x more than we produced PER YEAR over the last 8 years.
Our housing crisis was a policy choice. Now we're fixing it.
Hi @MyGlendale — there’s nothing “beautiful” about turning a 4 lane road into a 6 lane road for cars.
You’re inducing more traffic, making pollution worse, and making the road more dangerous for everyone.
Climate change is real. Time to stop this. @ArdyKassakhian@AraJNajarian
“Every time we’ve reclaimed space from cars and given it to people, it’s been a home run”
I wish @MayorOfLA talked like this.
👏 @ToddGloria@MayorToddGloria
Thinking about these two tweets because it’s such a stark comparison. Germany is the EU state with the most in common with the US on these issues — both have massive car industries with significant influence in/control over domestic and foreign policy.
Because Senator Feinstein was absent, the Senate overturned a Biden rule that would cut pollution from heavy duty trucks and causes harm to people’s lungs. We are putting decorum over democracy and our values. It’s time for Senator Feinstein to step down gracefully.
It's really, really hard to bring about a change to our streetscape as profound as that accomplished by @AlexFischCC and the rest of the prior Culver City council.
Undoing it would be a senseless act of climate arson.

Biden decided to subsidize 6,500 pound EV trucks for downtown office commuters instead of 60 pound e-bikes.
Now, folks will start lobbying to spend climate budgets on retrofitting parking garages.
absolutely losing my mind that the city took more than a year to report back on Mobility Plan progress just to give us nonsense that 76% is complete or ongoing
need to scream literally 300+ people died from traffic violence in LA since it was requested

sorry to be a huge lib here, but you have no idea how satisfying it is to watch summers try every obscurantist interview line in the economist handbook only to realize stewart can actually decipher it. genuinely never seen a central banker confronted like this
Congratulations, Supervisor. You’ve created a wide highway that is even more dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists. You’ve induced more driving which contributes to climate change.
And the worst part… you’re completely blind to all of this and celebrating it!
Amazing to be proud of wider lanes (that encourage faster driving), a bunch of new car lanes, in a picture taken in front of an unprotected bike lane.
We need electeds that put the needs of vulnerable road users (pedestrians/cyclists) ahead of driver convenience.
I am a terrible graphic designer and can't draw a stick-figure, and yet, daily, I set myself the weird chore of illustrating highly abstract news stories, using public domain sources and CC work.
Sometimes I nail it though, and feel indecently proud, like today's transformation of a 19th C editorial cartoon opposing literacy tests for immigrants into a 21st C editorial cartoon opposing the #RestrictAct's #TiktokBan and instead calling for sweeping privacy laws that apply to US and Chinese companies alike.

BREAKING: In July @ChipotleTweets closed the Augusta, Maine, store where workers had filed for a union election. Today @1ChipotleUnited are announcing that Chipotle must pay nearly $1/4 million settlement to the crew that was employed at the Augusta store, but that's not all...
