One of the greatest lies fear tells us is this: “You need confidence before you obey.” Not in our Kingdom! Here, confidence is the result of obedience and audacity births results.
The miracle wasn’t that I sited my first bloodless IV line. The miracle was discovering that fear had been lying to me all along.
And so if you have an assignment from God you’ve been stalling because you don’t feel ready, this is the word of the Lord to you today “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9
1. When prayer becomes optional- Oftentimes, the drift begins with radio-silence. The secret place was designed for dwellers not refugees. The less you pray, the less sensitive you become to Him, His leading, His presence. Before long, you realize self reliance works and it quietly replaces dependence on Him.
Nobody wakes up one morning and decides to drift from God. Drift is almost always gradual. It happens one neglected habit at a time.
Here are 7 subtle ways believers slowly drift away from God:
7. When you stop pursuing God because you assume you already know Him- Familiarity is one of the greatest enemies of wonder. The deeper you know God, the more you should seek to know Him. Intimacy dies when curiosity disappears.
6. When you stop walking with people who sharpen you- Isolation is fertile ground for spiritual decline. God designed believers to grow in community. A company of believers is a spiritual hack for your preservation. Distance from godly relationships often precedes distance from God.
