Q5: Its evolved for me over time. I do Socratic seminars now. We practice with same rubric as a formative and then I offer observations per student and give class feedback then we do a slightly different topic for summative. #LesleyUChat

I don’t have experience doing it but my elementary school kids have it until third grade.I find it helpful more than a letter but HS teachers would struggle giving assessment on up to 20-30 standards per student.Also,all parents need instructions on how to interpret. #LesleyUChat

@blocht574 Just keep in mind you’re going to have to maintain academic integrity and rewrite summatives every time a student redoes an assessment while allowing time for them to come into redo and regrade. It’s a lot of time involved. #lesleyuchat

Many schools have department policies. My English Dept. allows up to 10% off per day up to five days and then max grade 50% any time in semester. Sometimes you don’t have a choice individually as a teacher. #lesleyuchat

Q2: My district in Atlanta allows any student scoring under 74% on a summative to do recovery up to a 75% max score. I let my students revise essays at least once. #LesleyUChat

My son’s first grade teacher, Ms. Madison Strauss, records videos where she gives direct instruction and shows them using a mini-white board and materials,then pairs it with fun song videos and then online manipulatives for the students to practice. #FCSrising @HillsideES
