We accompany & equip people responding to forced migration by accompanying peacemakers, building capacity, campaigning & developing people & ideas. Seeking peace in the spaces in between.
And yet… wonderful volunteers who go beyond, Iftar packs shared for those fasting, home-cooked food for all, art and stories created, lyrics written and music composed, shoes for the shoeless, friendships made 💕 6/
Lives will be saved by safe and legal routes which need to be included in the #BordersBill . Absence of safe routes is a recipe for more disaster. #SafeRoutesSaveLives @safepassageuk
Weekly we listen to those stuck in #Napier Barracks and last week we listened to people in Grand Synthe who are desperately waiting to identify those who drowned in the #Channel . So many lives have been lost as this exceptional research shows - https://t.co/OPnGFTGf2n
We’ve expressed concern about safety at #Napier for months. It’s distressing to hear that fire & safety reports were ignored by @ukhomeoffice and their contracted providers.

Fire safety inspection from Nov reveals effective fire safety measures were not in place and no fire drills had been undertaken https://t.co/s1Q2pM8ymg
Borders and liminal places need to be peaceful for all humans. Important witnessing took place yesterday and we hope Napier will be more fit for purpose than it was for the last residents. @project_pause@humansforrights
Yesterday, Friday 9th April approximately 50 men have been moved into Napier barracks from hotels around the country. A mere 8 days since the last 13 men were finally transferred out of the camp, after enduring over 7 months there. We expect others to arrive over the coming days.
Napier Barracks in Kent has been used to house around 400 people seeking asylum.
Not only are 22 people on suicide watch, but now over a quarter of the entire population of the facility has contracted COVID.
This is scandal, but not a surprise.

Utterly appalling to see the @ukhomeoffice deny any responsibility for the catastrophic outbreak in #NapierBarracks NO provision was made for people who tested positive last week to isolate and we have evidence of this. #closethebarracks#wearewitnesses
Furthered criticism of #NapierBarracks today. They need to be inspected urgently. We have listened to residents and are deeply concerned.
