It’s because the amusement industry is dying. It’s a slow death, but it’s dying. Too much wealth is being siphoned to the 1%, and the target audience for regional parks is the middle class.
The only parks doing well are mega regionals and 1% vacation destinations like Disney.

if they sit meekly, registering only verbal protests, they will not be effective.
what appears to be developing is that in scattered communities in the US, particularly red states, data centers are going to be built because local politicians have accepted bribes (whatever they may be called: campaign contributions?) to facilitate them. citizens are not informed beforehand.
citizens should be alert & alarmed & ready to peacefully but firmly oppose data centers in their midst.
