i love my old man but finding movies we both enjoy is a constantly war. he doesn't like anything that came out after 2014 (with few exceptions). i cannot watch another movie where a coach turns around a disadvantaged but plucky team with potential

@LittleDarksie yeah… so like when we’re talking about how people react and punish online behaviours (i.e by banning them) that is in fact, a system in which negative behaviours are responded to with punishments

@LittleDarksie for sure but every justice system on earth is based around escalating severity of punishment specifically because some things are worse than others and are discouraged more severely. doesn't mean lesser crimes are 'good', but you can't just lump everything under the same level

anyway it turned out to be 'Ghost Soldier' which again, very cheesy movie-trailer-inside-a-movie name. its like it exists to be scrolled past while you're trying to find a movie you can watch with your dad and you pause for a second before you go nahhh

before resident evil there was a trailer for a movie so generic and campy it felt like one of those movies inside a movie but I COULD NOT remember any actors from it ( im terrible at identifying anyway) and i was starting to think i'd hallucinated it

the only thing I didn't really like about Resident Evil was the explicit 'just like in my video games!' -esque dialogue. its just dumbification of something already not subtle. like we get it.

fwiw I truly do not blame anyone for having body image issues. Quite literally billions invested in ensuring you do and it was well and truly over for us by the time skincare became the hot trend for like eight year olds

obviously there are valid critiques of sex / ‘sex culture’ which is why I say ➡️In part⬅️ and not ‘this is the only reason people have a problem with sex’

getting a lot of annoying sex positivity vs Puritanism on my feed recently and it feels like no one acknowledges that the vehement rejection of sex in the younger gen is at least in part due to the insane insecurity and dysmorphia growing up in the age of filters (and now AI)

like it’s a lot easier to lash out at the moral ways sex is a failing (lol) or slap a feminist angle on it then it is to address the personal horror of body image and being perceived
