This apology wasn't written for the average, well-adjusted player. To many of us, it closely echoed the demands made by the people who spent days harassing your company, your staff, your players, and anyone who dared express excitement for Valko.
There is a difference between voicing disagreement and engaging in targeted harassment.
Many of us have read the discussions ourselves on XHS and Weibo. Some of us have experienced the hostility firsthand as it spread onto global platforms.
So, what did this decision actually accomplish?
It didn’t restore trust, and it certainly didn’t end the harassment. If anything, many players feel it has escalated.
Antis continue to report posts they disagree with, which are then taken down. Individuals or outlets expressing neutral or positive opinions about Valko continue to be targeted. Even cosplayers have become targets simply for portraying a fictional character that the antis wanted cancelled.
Whether or not those initial events at the end of June influenced your decision is almost beside the point.
The hostility didn't stop when you removed Valko.
It continued. Because when you show bullies they can get away with it, or even be rewarded for their behavior, it emboldens them.
This is why many players struggle to understand what was actually gained from all this. We don't know what conversations happened behind closed doors, but from the outside, many of us are left with the impression that harassment won while patience and kindness didn't.
Years of constructive feedback and loyalty did nothing.
That feeling didn't begin with Valko.
For years, players have submitted thoughtful requests: improvements to accessibility, better representation for darker skin tones (which you willingly offered as an option yet don’t optimize), combat feedback, quality-of-life changes, concerns about progression systems, scheduling, communication, and so much more. Years of filling out surveys asking for these things, over and over, of writing emails and submitting tickets to CS, both regular and VIP.
Many of these conversations seemed to disappear into the void. We got platitudes and no results.
Then, suddenly, one issue dominated by hostility produced one of the most significant creative decisions in the game's history. Can you understand why players would draw that comparison?
This is why Valko has become more than a character “we want back in the game.” He has become a symbol. A symbol of promises withdrawn, of creative work abandoned, of constructive feedback and criticisms ignored. He is a symbol of years of being unheard.
He is the symbol of love, kindness, culture, justice, and normalcy being discarded.
The greatest tragedy isn't just that one character disappeared, it's that many loyal players no longer believe that being respectful matters as much as being loud. That isn’t the lesson any game built on “love” should teach.

@ellinightss@Ggt_SK Also, their words and actions contradict each other. They said it was just an ad and that it meant nothing, yet they still threw tantrums to get the article taken down 🤷🏻♀️
@chengheng1994 Those antis should realize how bad the messed up the game. From LI cancellation, baseless stupid rumors, no MS update, no proper game update, to this silent treatment. They literally ruin everyone's gaming experience. All of this nonsense, it's pissing me off.
@J05Sab@karmar_lu Now that i’m reading it again, this is actually a childish move. Theyre saying the data hasn’t been verified and no objective information. But they don’t provide the so-called real data or any objective information, or do they provide it? Or is it enough?
