@shivenbh @Reed_College_ Thank you, @shivenbh!

[Michael Pearce @pearce790]

I'm very excited to share that I've accepted a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Statistics at @Reed_College_ starting Fall 2023!

Thanks to all who helped me get here. I can't wait to join this growing stats group, and to be staying in the Pacific Northwest!

@AndrewBarnas R makes it so easy, too! I learned too recently that you can run:

to get a written citation and a BibTeX.

By the way, Reed is hiring a visiting faculty statistician for next year. Please share to anyone who might be interested!

New preprint! "A new approach to peer review assessments: Score, then rank" (1/3)

https://t.co/MpjwdE5DUI

[Michael Pearce @pearce790]

Main idea: For (more) accurate #PeerReview assessments, have reviewers score, then rank funding proposals. Our model combines the data into interpretable "integrated scores", which sensibly break ties and allow funders to make decisions with uncertainty. (2/3)

Join us for a virtual conversation and Q&A with current Statistics Ph.D. students from the Departments of Statistics at UW, UC Berkeley, and UMich Ann Arbor on Thu., Nov. 3, 2022 at 5:00PM (PST). See details here: https://t.co/h9RRmGqTFT

[Michael Pearce @pearce790]

Excited to see your talk, Jerzy! For all interested, come to the session Elena Erosheva and I organized, "Using Ranking Data for Decision-Making" at 2pm today in CC-143A #JSM2022

[Michael Pearce @pearce790]

To try out the Mallows-Binomial model for yourself, check out our R package “rankrate” on CRAN. Thanks for reading! (8/8)

[Michael Pearce @pearce790]

Just in time for #JSM2022, our new paper has been published in the Journal of Machine Learning Research! https://t.co/NYKNocF6fZ Elena A. Erosheva and I propose the first joint statistical model for rankings and scores (1/n)

[Michael Pearce @pearce790]

In our paper, we apply the model to real #peerreview data and show how it efficiently combines information from rankings and scores. We think the model can help make better decisions and understand the inherent uncertainty in them (7/n)
