FFmpeg has been accepted in the EU funded @yeswehack project for security developers to find vulnerabilities.
No thought has been put into funding the volunteers who actually have to fix the bugs for free.

Currently doing a Python Machine Learning course and we are throwing gigs of data left and right. Each node on the machine I used at uni was 128 MB and we used MPI to shift data back and forth between the nodes.
This was very common in the UK when I worked there a decade ago. You would go through multiple rounds of interviews and then be ghosted. Only to get a phone call a few months later when the place had won a contract and needed devs ASAP.
