I just watched “PRIDE VS. PREJUDICE: THE DELWIN VRIEND STORY" @CIFFcalgary - this film should be mandatory for ALL politicians to watch. We must all learn and evolve from historical moments like the Vriend decision. Thank you @KristopherWells and the rest of the film crew!!
To repeat, just like Sexual Orientation wasn’t included in the Charter in 1981, but the SSC ruled, in the 1998 landmark Vriend decision, it was analogous to the other protected grounds against discrimination.

Activist Gilbert Baker created the original pride flag in 1978.
Baker was urged by Harvey Milk to create a symbol for the LGBT community and he chose a flag, which he saw as the most powerful symbol of pride.
