Imagine the next Halo game opens exactly where Halo 3 ended.
Master Chief floats through space.
“Wake me… when you need me.”
Cut to black.
Then we see Cortana’s memories....Halo 4. Halo 5. Infinite. Everything that came after Halo 3… distorted, fragmented, escalating into a horrifying dream.
Suddenly...
Cortana wakes.
She looks around.
Silence.
None of it happened.
It was all just a nightmare buried inside her neural matrix… the way a human mind can turn its fears into dreams.
Then we hear:
“Chief… I need you.”
And the pod opens.
HALO IS BACK.
XBOX has just announced Halo Studios is effectively dead as almost the entire studio has been laid off.
Future entires in the Halo franchise will be headed by Activision.
Honestly, after 14 years of 343i fumbling the Halo franchise on a consistent basis, This feels like the first time the franchise might actually have a real future with component leadership expanding it into an actual franchise rather than somehow let us keep going by years and years without a single game only to end up with another attempt at rebooting the franchise’s identity that completely flops.
Halo: Campaign Evolved really was the last straw, I don’t know how they managed to remake Halo CE into a worse game in almost every way. I know Activision has their issues but they know how to run their FPS franchises like machines, with constant releases and support. So fingers crossed Halo starts to see consistent releases now.
BREAKING: Activision is officially taking over Halo, Xbox announces
“Activision will also be developing the next Halo title, led by a new, purpose-built team that is separate from ongoing development and plans for Call of Duty”
