PeerLink Initiative Uganda in collaboration with Kikulu Zone Local Council 1 leadership has officially launched Kikulu Zone Community Library located in Kikulu Zone, Kikaaya Parish, Kawempe Division. The library focuses on increasing access to reading and learning materials.
PeerLink Initiative Uganda (PELI-U) team held a dialogue session with Kawempe Division Community Stakeholders (Kikaaya & Komamboga Parishes) to brainstorm on effects of Covid-19 on children, youth and women and on library space identification and set up of community libraries.
In an effort to increase access to reading and learning materials at ccommunity level, PeerLink Initiative Uganda (PELI-U) through Nyarushanje Community Library distributed 157 curriculum books and 192 readers to 12 community based satellite libraries of Nyarushanje Subcounty.
1 day content review meeting by primary school teachers focusing on (Mathematics, Science, English and Social Studies) held on 20.04.2021 at PeerLink Initiative Uganda field office. Participants shared experience and lessons learnt during the process of content creation.
Through the Digital Literacy for Primary School Teachers PeerLink Initiative Uganda has sensitized 34 school stakeholders, trained 28 teachers in ICT and is working with a team of 12 teachers to create subject content (Mathematics, English, Science Social Studies).
The community based Satellite libraries provide reading space and reading materials to the Parish Community Members. They also sever as a venue through which Nyarushanje Community Library and Empowerment Centre extends services to the households, schools and entire community.
