ERC20 tokens are not in your wallet. They are just a balance in a smart contract. If you approve another contract, like AAVE, Uniswap… whatever, to spend unlimited amount of that token on your behalf, if that contract is compromised, you are done. You hardware wallet has nothing to do with ERC20 tokens
