everyone’s advice for getting a good job is like “wear a suit to the interview, have a strong handshake, send handwritten notes to the hiring manager” and everyone’s explanation for how they actually have a good job is like “oh, the owner of the company plays golf with my dad”
I think it makes perfect sense people get bitter when their years in higher education lead them to exact same place they would have been straight out of HS anyway, think you're all sort of lying when you act like you don't understand why they'd feel bad about that
I just told my best friend that I hadn’t got my dream job, even after over 25 hours spent writing the application. I was obviously upset about this, but I became more upset when his advice (that I hadn’t asked for) was to just “speed apply” for hundreds of jobs. Damned if do/dont
