Defence Budget % GDP-Japan 1.4/UK 2.3
JMSDF-4xCVS/LH, 28xSSK, 8xDDG, 42xDD/FFM/DE, 40+Coastguard OPV, 21x MCMV, 5x AOE
RN-2xCVF, 4xSSBN, 5xSSN, 6xDDG, 9xFF, 8xOPV 5xMCMV, 3x AO
Obviously its more than just numbers, but you can't help thinking Japan does a far better job with it.
@The_Lookout_N Indeed, any ship is repairable if you have the budget, but it's out of service for a considerable time. Which considering Boykiy has been busy working between the Baltic and the Med over the past few years, will place a strain on the remaining Baltic based available escorts.
Looks like a similar (if not more) level of damage to that suffered by LST RFS Minsk on 13/9/23.
That ship isn't going too sea for a long time, if ever...

@wraggi74 Aye yes I gather the trials picked that issue, which why the idea never went forward. But it doesn't explain why the original gun hasn't been re fitted since the refit
With escort missions and several port visits, HMS Sutherland looking more and more an active frigate, but still no time to fit the 30mm guns...
Curiously in 2019 Sutherland had been the trials ship for the exercise using a modified DS30M Mark 2 mount to fire 30mm and Marlet's.
After a recent visit to Lisbon, @HMSSutherland was off Portland at the weekend.
Continuing regeneration trials, including Magazine Torpedo Launching System (MTLS) test.

@Gunbust09696378 I really don't know why they're not there, but considering how few operational warships we have, it's just strange to see them not fitted with the weapons they were designed for and at least in the case of Sutherland (if not the carriers), used to previously carry.
