A ‘boomer’ stating their personal situation is no different than that a younger person stating their personal situation. One cannot be accused of being out of touch while the other is not. I am simply pointing out PERSONAL stories are not indicative of every person’s situation in that particular age group. Implying they are is tiresome.
Not every person in a particular demographic are the same (at one time thinking so was considered bigoted stereotyping).
Some white men are indeed asses as are many people born after 1964.
Promoting devisiveness among the citizenry only serves to take the attention off of the State, the real culprit. At one time, ‘libertarians’ also considered removing oppression by the State primary too. IMO Collectivism over Individualism is not the route we want to go.
You want to win persons in a particular demographic to your ideas? Find like minded people in that group and encourage them to spread the word among their peers. Good ideas don’t require bullying and lies. Don’t insult them and wish them dead. Nothing will kill your movement faster not only within that demographic, but among those witnessing your poor behavior.
@r_b_t_r@Rothmus So…wishing death upon an entire segment of the population is good. While ‘replacement’ (whatever that means) is bad.
You missed my point. Wishing for the abolishment of an entire segment of the population deemed evil is unacceptable, no matter the general demographic.
@SenSanders When you say ‘pay’ for tax breaks, does that mean you believe all earnings are property of the government and any amounts people are allowed to keep are actually government handouts/payouts?
@OrevaZSN The first home I remember as a child had no indoor plumbing, a stand alone stove in the middle of the living room to heat the entire house, no air conditioning…and rats.
Yes, we had it all.
The problem lies with who defines “the experts”. During COVID we saw Oxford, Harvard and Stanford doctors silenced (turns out their assessment was correct); and those funded by the government given voice…the same ones that at one time told us smoking was healthy, margarine was better than butter and lobotomies were health care.
@Xtremegirl4@JonKatz79 Everything today is ‘click and swipe’. Damn near everything has an app that my four year old granddaughter can handle.
Older folks had a ‘C’ prompt.
‘Facts from the past’ was my entire point. The older crowd was Massie’s to lose (based on ‘facts from past’ election). IMO the libertarian’ crowd hurt him. Gallrein won simply because of the over 65 crowd. The folks who supported him in the past, but now constantly ridiculed and insulted by the ‘libertarian’ crowd, the crowd associated with Massie.
Don’t get me wrong. I am, and have been a Massie supporter since he first came on the scene with the ‘Tea Party’ revolution; and I have never been a Trump supporter. I am terribly concerned about our future without a man like Massie to keep Washington in check. Offering up advice suggesting not alienating such a large number of voters seemed appropriate.
Just this week, I had provided you as an example of a Libertarian influence who had not stooped down to disparage ‘Boomers’ (now a pejorative for anyone born 1946-1964). The constant punches in the face by ‘libertarians’ in particular are terribly disheartening. I have been kicked out of my home :(
I have lived by, and argued for, libertarian principles longer than a majority of the folks who insult me as someone to be ‘stuck with’ have been alive and yet here we are. Daily, multiple insults.
I am truly saddened.
