@GraphicsRunner I agree, that would be really interesting. It's just tough to properly design a study around it, since dependencies bring in a lot of potential confounding factors.
Despite similar education and background, programmers can exhibit vast differences in their abilities!
In our latest study, we dug deeper into the topic! I'll :
1) explore programmers' brains and eyes, and
2) undermine conventional programming experience measures...

In line with my research, I should have monitored my brain π§ during my thesis defense, but I wasn't allowed to bring the fMRI scanner home.
But, I tracked my heart rate throughout the day. It was not as high as I expected, but still concerning for just sitting in a chair π
