We are expanding our support to fishers and farmers in the coming weeks, providing them with critical tools to get them up and running, including paddy seeds, fertilizer, crab traps, boats and nets. This will help improve food security for many across Rakhine.

Many people in the cyclone’s path are among the most marginalized in Myanmar, living on low incomes. These seeds will help them grow nutritious food in the weeks and months ahead, and for some the opportunity to sell the extra produce and earn a small income.

When #CycloneMocha tore through Myanmar’s Rakhine State, it devastated farmland, destroyed seed stocks, and left fishing boats in splinters. Farmers’ and fishers’ livelihoods are in ruins. This is affecting food availability and cost, and the impacts could get much worse.
