Ashley was raped when she was 13. She got pregnant.
But Ashley REFUSED to kill her baby in an abortion.
Often we wonder what drives us, what motivates us to move forward in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, or what motivates us to get up every morning, take a deep breath and face the day.
For Ashley the answer is simple. His name is Aiden.
She was only 13 and pregnant by rape.
She is a true hero in every sense of the word. Not only did this vulnerable, frightened teenager choose life for her son, but she bravely confronted her rapist and was instrumental in his prosecution and conviction for rape.
Ashley’s supporters have stepped up and helped this young mother, showing her what we as pro-lifers are all about. Being Pro-life isn’t just about saving babies, it’s walking a long and difficult road with these women and their children. The same road all of you have been walking with Ashley and Aiden since the day we brought you their story.
Ashley perseveres because she knows what she’s doing is important.
“Being a 16 year-old mom and still being in school is one of the biggest challenges of my life,” she said a few years after Aiden was born, “but it’s also the most rewarding.”
Even though Aiden was conceived through rape, Ashley believes her son is a miracle and an inspiration.
“I swear if it wasn’t for Aiden, I wouldn’t be here today. He has impacted my life more than anyone could ever imagine at a time when I was falling apart. I was 13 years old, terrified, not knowing what the future would hold for me,” she confessed.
"God blessed me with him and I wouldn’t want my life any other way. I love my son. Aiden saved me.”
Our Lord created the Sacrament of Penance.

(A) John 20

Commentary: Jesus plainly gives His Apostles the Authority to forgive sins.
(B) Corinthians 5:
18 [l]”And all this is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation”
Commentary: Paul, in his Second Epistle to the Corinthians, references the “Ministry of Reconciliation.”
(C) James 5
“Anointing of the Sick. 13 Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone in good spirits? He should sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick?[f] He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint [him] with oil in the name of the Lord, 15 and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.[g]
Confession and Intercession. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful.”
Commentary: Clearly a reference from the Epistle of James to the Power of the Catholic Sacraments of Extreme Unction/Anointing of the Sick and Confession.
(D) Matthew 18
15 “If your brother[l] sins [against you], go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have won over your brother. 16 [m]If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, so that ‘every fact may be established on the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell the church.[n] If he refuses to listen even to the church, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector. 18 [o]Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Commentary: Another clear reference to the Ecclesial Authority to forgive sins.
(E) Matthew 16
“I will build my church,[m] and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.[n] Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Commentary: Another unambiguous statement of the Power of Ecclesial Authority to bind in Heaven and on Earth.
