Farage is complaining about the threat of violence. He forgets that he was a key initiator of the current climate of violence.

He threatened to "pick up a rifle" if Brexit was not delivered.

He said - "If you rob people of their identity. If you rob them of their democracy, then all they are left with is nationalism and violence." He said this to intimidate MPs into rejecting a democratic second referendum.

He said - "it's legitimate to say that if people feel they've lost control completely, and we have lost control of our borders completely as members of the EU, and if people feel voting doesn't change anything, then violence is the next step."

This wasn't a political analyst reporting public attitudes. This was a ruthless far-right politician seeking to whip up a climate of violence to force Parliament to accede to his demands.

MPs, particularly women, were terrorised by threats of violence, even to the point of not voting for Remain.

Threats of violence for political ends are legally classed as terrorism. Why was Farage not prosecuted? If I had a large political following and made such threats I would expect a knock on the door from Special Branch.

If Farage wants to pose as the victim of threats of violence, he should start by apologising for his threats, and the fear and distress to which they contributed.
