In most countries they're cheaper but some countries have extremely competitive in-person markets with seemingly impossible margins. And a lot of their time they are not even upselling transfer services so it's not necessarily a loss leader.

@idoccor If you on a green card you are subject to the taxes after 8 years so you might as well, only thing is it's easier to give up a GC.

If you're not, there is no exit tax so you avoid US cap gains if you move to another country!
