@JohnNosta Worked Bell Laboratories Holmdel in 1980’s before moving to Switzerland. It was the brains of “Ma Bell”, and we often went to AT&T headquarters on a hillside in Basking Ridge to show our work. We created a 68000 micro system running Unix for our project, there were no limits.
@TVAnswerMan My father died at 102. At that age no doctor will touch you, the reason for death is completely unimportant. If you haven’t had a good life after 102 years there’s nothing a doctor can do 🙁
@TVAnswerMan That’s odd that anyone would care. Abbott & Costello’s fake baseball players were there for the comedy routine, one of the greatest ever performed, and there was never a thought any of it was real 🙁
@RealTimeWWII Father & father-in-law both fought in WW2, father-in-law radio operator who spoke German & was in 1944 invasion of southern France. Visited League of Nations building in Geneva when lived in Switzerland, their failure to uphold the terms of the WW1 surrender allowed WW2 to occur.
@EvanRobertsWFAN For all those complaining about the Mets on Apple TV, cable TV is dying. People who don’t watch sports are tired of paying for them so are leaving cable. That leaves sports fans to pay for cable + whatever streaming service has the sports you want to watch 🙁
@TVAnswerMan Same as I did in January. Cancelled Comcast video but kept internet. Phone call simple & polite, returned equipment to nearby store, and I was done. Then I upgraded internet service, new router shipped to my house with complete installation instructions. New Comcast indeed 🙂
@mattklumpp @TVAnswerMan Loved the Video iPod. Bought Apple stock when saw Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers dancing on mine. But was socially isolating, too small to share. Now iPhone Pro Max can support multiple people watching my videos in landscape. No idea how Vision Pro will do, but we’ll see 🙂
@davemark Ha, had SD TV until January 2023 when we canceled cable TV for streaming. Like VR, which my inability to stand on any sliding device like skis would keep me from trying. How will someone explain the benefits of VR to someone who will never be able to try it? 🙂
@SBCranford@RichardLatto That’s amazing. Of course today that collection would fit onto my 8TB iMac and anyone in the world could have an exact copy. Same with the 78rpm records. There’ll never be such collectors again, anyone can have a pristine copy of anything (copyright law notwithstanding) 🙂
@PatrickMoorhead Drove to French Riviera & Monaco when lived in Switzerland, went over the roads that made up the race & stayed in Lowe’s Hotel next to one of the famous corners. Very narrow roads indeed. Also drove on Corniche high above city where Princess Grace had her fatal accident 🙁
@davemark That’s a surprise. I thought Manhattan bedrock went far down. I guess the sinking is in the soil on top of it, but still didn’t expect it. Anyway, I’m old & won’t see it happen, good luck to my children who will (and live in Manhattan) 🙁
@ChanceHMiller@waltmossberg Local Apple store always full. As Apple stockholder I can’t complain, but my brother-in-law now goes to Best Buy to get personal service rather than wait for help that never comes at Apple store. They need a queue system that can rank people by arrival time automatically 🙁
@BridgetCarey Interesting. Saw beautiful temple in Kyoto, Japan under threatening sky, took iPhone photos. Later edited same sky to white with soft clouds, temple much more beautiful. Could have replaced with blue sky, but that was too much. Maybe untrue, but certainly improves the memory 🙂
@JasonAten I think we’ve seen what Apple is doing with the iPad. My 12.9” 2TB iPad Pro holding my home movies from 1982-2015 is nothing that’s on Google’s tablet roadmap. And that’s besides the huge number of iPad tablet apps. But love the Google tablet stand, I’ll take one of those 🙂
@uzmabarlaskar@benedictevans@AndrewPorter01 Ha, wife setup Candy Closet for kids & friends in kitchen, definitely not attractive to us but more than once youngest daughter’s friends told her “Let’s go to your house, you have a Candy Closet” 🙂
@loudmouthjulia Kyoto beautiful, loved the many temples that blanket the city. Also great restaurants and a wonderful indoor mall if you need souvenirs 🙂
@loudmouthjulia Loved Japan when visited in 2019. The cities, the restaurants, the people all very welcoming, and so much to see. Also visited Hakone Open Air Museum as you did, a great artistic experience 🙂
