Young ABC employees often have to endure short contracts for many years before getting a secure job. It can act as a kind of privilege filter. This often goes unmentioned in discussions about diversity #DontDiscountABC

In our request to ABC management, we are not seeking something unrealistic.
We just want fair pay and conditions for ourselves, each other.
Also, bless all those friends who saw through my bullshit 'illness' and helped me out. I have never forgotten the flight or the kindness.
Nyssa and I were on a roadtrip with friends once. I was so cash strapped that I couldn't afford to join them on a short joy flight.
I was embarrassed and pretended to be sick. They realised it was a financial issue and all pitched in behind my back and shouted me a ticket.
When I was working in banking we used to joke that if I'd paid my tax direct to @pennytimms that she would likely have gotten a pay rise...
Sure there are many at the top of the ABC on high pay, but the ones actually doing the work are on very ordinary pay and conditions.
A strong ABC needs a secure workforce. That means fair pay & progression.
Without it, we won't have a strong public broadcaster. We can't let the world's news be delivered only by those with commercial interests. It's unhealthy & ripe for noise & distraction.
You deserve better
Do you remember that annoying AF song 'Shallow' by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper? Well, that song was No.1 when I last had an official pay rise.
The Australian bushfires hadn't happened yet.
COVID-19 wasn't even a thing.

I started at ABC in regional bureaux. I loved it. It was rewarding but also hard & stressful.
That's why I support my regional colleagues who want transparency on pay gaps between regional & metro staff.
We love & are proud of ABC but need respect & support.

I love working for the ABC and see my role as a privilege rather than a job. I've had some great opportunities but often worry about colleagues whose journalism is not always fully respected or properly remunerated. That's why I'm standing up for a better deal #DontDiscountABC
Our ABC matters. Without sustainable careers, it can’t provide the essential service that the public deserves.
We need security for all staff through genuine access to progression for all and equality in the regions.
I’m standing @withmeaa to win a fair deal #DontDiscountABC
Please support us in our bid for improved conditions so we can keep serving you, our @abcnews audience. We've lost too many good people already. #DontDiscountABC
@withMEAA Many of my colleagues are still stuck in this limbo.
It's unfair and stressful. Especially, if like me, you do not come from money and have extreme uncertainty about your future. It also makes you question your self worth.

Breaking my Twitter snub to explain why we at ABC want fair pay and conditions.
Years ago, I was stuck on rolling contracts. Some lasted a month, others several. During that time, I was doing senior work including acting as Executive Producer.

‘Former federal MP Dr Kerryn Phelps says she and her partner experienced vaccine injury, calling for tests for long COVID and vaccine injuries as well as more research on the long-term harms of the coronavirus and immunisation side effects.’
