Today, the United States launched a trade war against Canada: their closest partner and ally — their closest friend.
Canadians are reasonable, but we will not back down from a fight.
Not when our country is at stake.
Elon Musk, the richest man on earth, is dismantling USAID, which feeds the poorest children on earth.
This is oligarchy at its worst.
Musk’s actions are not only immoral and unconstitutional, they are counterproductive to our standing in the world.
@kaijuprincess91@IDKTIFANY Completely fair. But it is always those who have little who suffer, over those who have too much. I would welcome a solution that only impacted the rich, but I haven't seen one work. I'm just someone who blames the dudes with millions who wont negotiate over the workers.
With this whole "Canada as the 51st state thing" going on, I have never been so happy to still be a constitutional monarchy.
And I really hope this ages okay...
@kaijuprincess91@IDKTIFANY right. I stand behind anyone who wishes to unionise so they can obtain benefits, higher pay, and better working conditions. To put it in another way, there are many countries that do not have freedom of speech (which sucks), that does not mean I am wrong for using my right to it.
@kaijuprincess91@IDKTIFANY -are unable to afford the 'necessities of life' even at several dollars above minimum wage. The homeless population has increased, and it is disgraceful that minimum wage is so low. But, people fought for the right to strike, everyone who is able deserves to exercise that-
@SteamCheap1@JazzyJ87283918@cshutters1982@acnewsitics Funny I thought the definition of freedom was the absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government... Oh wait, I was right, that is the definition...
So I just watched the documentary listed in Luigi Mangione's Manifesto (Sicko by Michael Moore) and... while I couldn't bring myself to kill someone, I am unsurprised someone did...
@kaijuprincess91@IDKTIFANY 5) Most CanPost employees do not make a living wage if they are living in almost all major city areas in canada (Greater Toronto Area, Greater Vancouver Area, etc.), as well as some other areas of the country.
@kaijuprincess91@IDKTIFANY 1) Social Assistance Cheques are being delivered by CUPW workers 2) CanPost was found to have violated the Canadian Labour code and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms 3) I have legal documents in the mail and yes, it sucks-
@brynw871@IDKTIFANY Those things suck, in fact I have a cheque sitting in the mail somewhere that I need right now. But, many CanPost employees don't make a living wage. The union is fighting for them. Also, CanPost is a crown corporation, which means that its primary objective is not to turn profit
