Even if some level of loud, obnoxious discourse about changing the theme is inevitable, that doesn’t mean it’s logical to go out of ones way to ignite even more loud, obnoxious discourse about the theme change by drawing direct attention to it. That’s what I am trying to say here.

Not really sure what you’re trying to convey - the crux of the disagreement here is that I think not drawing attention to these changes would have gone over better in the long run in terms of undue speculation and you think being loud and obvious about it is the only good way to do it, and when I point out examples of the exact sort of stupid shit these sorts of announcements bring out of the woodwork then it’s just cherry picking because… reasons?

Change, when gradual and done gently, is often much better received. The better move here would have been to just let these changes happen in a more natural way. Sure some people would baselessly speculate, but making an effort to point it out through an announcement invites way more of that, like these kinds of dogshit takes:
