today's hot take is that the sino-soviet split is held up as a stunning success of realpolitik but in fact it's a sacred cow. ask a simple question: what role did the sino-soviet split play in the collapse of the soviet union and the conclusion of the cold war. answer? not much.

and since signs and symbols are arbitrary and can attach to anything, you can throw soup at a painting "for the climate"
