@FIFAWorldCup kick this referee, Ilgiz Tantashev out of the World Cup man
Clearly not at a level to be refereeing games like this, just letting Paraguay players do whatever they want smh
Working hard and doing everything right is not enough to get you noticed.
The people you are trying to impress are not ignoring you because they cannot see your work. They are ignoring you because they can. They see it, they process it, and they move on. Because it has become exactly what they expect from you.
That is the trap. You deliver consistently. You hit your numbers. You show up every time. And slowly, you have trained everyone around you to expect exactly that.
Your best becomes their baseline. And nobody gets excited about a baseline.
This is why so many high performers struggle with visibility. Not because the work is bad. Because the work has become so reliable that it no longer registers as remarkable.
Doing more will not fix this. More of the same just raises the baseline higher.
What actually moves the needle is understanding what people expect from you, and then showing up in a way they were not prepared for. Not working harder. Showing up differently.
When someone expects a solid report and you give a solid report, nothing happens.
That is just Tuesday.
But when they expected a solid report and you walked in with a question that reframed the entire conversation, that they remember. That is what sticks with them.
That is why Tom will get the promotion and you won’t even though he works less.
It is not a volume thing. It is a type thing. It is about the nature of what you bring and whether it lands somewhere they did not see coming.
Visibility is built by studying the expectation, finding the gap, and closing it in a way that is uniquely yours.
That is the actual work. Not extra hours. Not extra deliverables. The observation. The study. The deliberate decision to show up differently.

Most people are not more talented than you.
They just repeat boring actions longer than you are willing to.
That is the game.
Pick the skill.
Do the reps.
Measure progress.
Adjust quickly.
The life you want is built through repetition, not motivation.
Put in the reps today.
Had the pleasure of watching Joshua's University Team play in the League Cup Final over the wkend, always a delight & a treat. The team just missing out on clenching the Silverware.
A dynamic player, always on point 👌🏽 winning & scoring penalty 🎯❤️⚽️⚽️😊
I interviewed people for Shell for years.
Here’s how to get in. 🧵
These tips will help you for other O&G companies too because they basically copy each other.
Same concepts. Different buzz words.
You got promoted.
It then looks like you don’t know how to do anything again.
You try and try, but it feels like you are burning out instead of being seen and rewarded.
There is an identity lag: a gap between the official role you now hold and the internal story you still carry about yourself.
Most times, uninstalling the previous version of you and reinstalling a newer, braver and smarter one is the way to resolve it.
You also need to audit your day-to-day, you cannot use a matchet to fight a battle that requires sophisticated weapons.
An incredibly simple idea.
Stay with it.
Build it.
Be obsessed with it.
Be known for it.
Show up every day to it.
I genuinely do not see how you will not be successful at it.
