🙋🏾♂️From me: Critics say @Sysco is ruining the restaurant industry. But the Houston-based multinational company says they’re actually saving it. https://t.co/DVx8xbKCR7 via @chron
Since my newsletter for @chron, Y'all Heard, launched in May, I've gone from 366 subs to over 800. I am so thankful to my readers. Everyone who has subbed thus far is being claimed as a dependent on my taxes. If you want to get in on that, sub here: https://t.co/vsPWKYZ066
i appreciated the candor of the guy that runs Light Bulbs Unlimited in Montrose when I asked why he's moving from the store's longtime location:
"There comes a point where a light bulb store can only pay so much rent. It's just too much for me."

🗒️Side note: One of the reasons why I was interested in this story was because Bertsch is kind of unique in the dining space in the way he's tapped into social media to create a kind of loyalty for his ghost kitchen.
The only thing is, I'm don't think everyone will want to copy.
✍️From me: Much has been said online about Sunny Bertsch, the owner of Kaisen Sushi at Blodgett Food Hall.
I wanted to get the measure of the man myself, so I reached out. Our talk played out the same way as his many Insta reels. https://t.co/Uvex6bDxAY via @chron
🧐Observation: Always funny to see it's the same Houston news outlet, again and again and again, that never credits where it got the news from.
(It's me. I'm the one they got the news from.)
😂 Houston has apparently found something everyone agrees on.
A proposed new nickname for Downtown Houston is getting roasted across social media, with hundreds of locals making it very clear they are not on board.
The comments section may be more entertaining than the nickname itself: https://t.co/AnKc539d4U

📪From the inbox: Former NFL DT Michael Brockers has reopened QUAD Houston at 4608 Almeda Rd. in Houston, Texas.
The revamped sports bar and restaurant has new food and drink menus, renovated spaces and more TVs ahead of the @FIFAWorldCup.
@chron 🗒️Side notes: We actually had a very long talk, and not everything got in, but Killen is super bullish about his quest to transform his Pearland steakhouse into the first Michelin-starred establishment of its kind in Texas. https://t.co/YANcKQf5el
🚨Exclusive: Killen's likely to close in Houston Heights. Acclaimed restaurateur and pitmaster Ronnie Killen is under contract to sell the 101 Heights Blvd. property. If it goes through, the restaurant will wind down operations by July 17. https://t.co/YANcKQf5el via @chron
📫From the inbox: Houston's Bludorn Hospitality Group is opening a restaurant in San Antonio's Pearl District. It's a new concept, name not revealed yet.
