What’s it going to take to stop the relentless attacks on cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicles?

These heavily armed gangs are becoming increasingly brazen, blowing up cash vans in broad daylight, often on busy roads, with complete disregard for innocent lives.

Their actions endanger motorists, first responders and surrounding communities.

Yesterday, another CIT robbery was reported on a Durban freeway, yet another reminder that these syndicates continue to operate with alarming confidence.

South Africa needs a far stronger intelligence-driven response.

We must identify, arrest and successfully prosecute the kingpins behind these attacks, dismantle the criminal networks, recover the firearms and explosives they use, and ensure those convicted receive sentences that reflect the seriousness of these crimes.

These are not ordinary robberies. They are acts of organised, violent crime. The time for decisive action is now.
