@seanelliott@armonB007@20thCenturySTL Argentina’s U.S. federation HQ is in Miami. They already have all their facilities there. They just didn’t want to travel long distances
@seanelliott@armonB007@20thCenturySTL Teams chose KC cuz either
a) had an existing group stage/later path game there
or b) it’s the only host in the middle of the coasts and north/south to Canada/Mexico. So yes they chose on location. They stuck Algeria at a college lol, every city has a college soccer program.
@MCanes7@Royals@England@FWC26KansasCity Good they can watch the most successful franchise in National League history play and appreciate it. Cardinals were just in London playing games a few years ago so England isn’t a stranger. Nobody is there for that perennial last place team in the AL that is bottom barrel revenue

@MCanes7@STLSoccerNews The Royals are a Missouri financing deal falling through away from relocation. Last in American League in a contending season” meanwhile the Cardinals are the 1st Wild Card in a “rebuild”. Lol
@bbq_kc@TheMan0fTheMole@STLSoccerNews Yes it would. Riverfront stadium design was built with soccer in mind for it. It was going to be a joint MLS/NFL stadium. And with a history of soccer in STL - 3rd most USMNT alumni behind NYC/LA not to mention the first men/women’s pro leagues started here, would be strong bid
@HalfwayShook Battlehawks play at the Dome and St. Louis is literally dragging the UFL to success by tripling other markets in attendance, in a sport that has failed many times (minor league football). That’s a pretty big testament to the fans. Kroenke screwed them just like Hunts move to KS
@TwirlClub@20thCenturySTL Also not sure what commitment you are referring to when SKC this year has been considered one of the worst MLS teams all time. No committed leadership. The only reason the women’s stadium got built was because SKC kicked them out of CMP. And previous women’s team moved to SLC
@TwirlClub@20thCenturySTL KC’s biggest soccer complex is in Kansas, including SKC. St. Louis still dominates at every level from high school to college and beyond in Missouri.
@royalsclubhouse I mean KCMO is around the same level of crime as NOLA. There’s been a few crime related incidents in KC around the WC that have made news.
I don’t want to rag on either city here. NOLA just doesn’t have soccer promoters like KC does. Otherwise I don’t see why it couldn’t host
@tinyblue_dev@ClayTravis St. Louis is also on these lists for soccer/baseball. Even with the NFL gone still high on football ratings too (the team left fraudulently). Plus top hockey market in tv viewership
@priceacarter Even then Atlanta isn’t a soccer capital either. America is a giant melting pot of immigration - there are tons of soccer hotspots all over the country.
@priceacarter Technically not #1 combined but a good showing. Regardless, KC is not a soccer capital. There are 11 US host cities. Not a single USMNT player on the roster is from KC/produced there. KC may be a good soccer host, but it’s not a capital. Heck the U.S. Soccer HQ moved to ATL
@CaptTailwind It’s not, it’s a great soccer host. But half the reason why Missouri is so high is because of St. Louis, where the first men and women’s pro leagues were formed in U.S. history. Lot of those alumni came to KC as coaches/built up programs. Plus what Lamar Hunt did 30 yrs ago too
