Today, we made history.
A remarkable milestone, years in the making. Some moments stay with you forever. This will be one of them. Incredibly fortunate and proud to have been part of it.
🚨🇮🇷🚨Iran Massacre

Islamic Terrorist Regime again putting the rope around his neck, this level of brutality's beyond inhumanity. @amnesty@vonderleyen@EP_President
I found watching this documentary incredibly difficult. It has brought back memories and emotions that never really went away. I remember watching everything unfold from thousands of miles away, feeling helpless and horrified by what I was seeing, with increasingly horrific news slowly trickling out despite the internet shutdown.
What stays with me just as much as the brutality is the extraordinary humanity of ordinary Iranians. In the middle of absolute chaos, with people injured, bleeding and dying around them, people ran towards one another. They carried strangers to safety, tried desperately to stop people from bleeding and stayed with the injured and dying, even while putting their own lives at risk. In the middle of such barbarity, their humanity shone through. The contrast between those ordinary people trying to save one another and the brutality being inflicted upon them by the Islamic Republic could not have been greater.
None of what we witnessed was normal, and I hate the fact that we have seen so much horror from Iran that there is a danger of becoming accustomed to it. People should never have had to witness those scenes. Families should never have had to search hospitals, morgues and even the streets looking for their children and loved ones, not knowing whether they were injured, detained or dead. I still cannot understand how, after everything we have seen and everything that has been documented, there are people who continue to deny that a massacre took place.
There is a collective trauma in all of this that belongs first and foremost to those who lived through it and those who survived it, but it has also left a wound in those of us who watched helplessly from outside Iran. Seeing horrific images repeatedly does not make them normal, and distance does not make you immune to what you are witnessing. These images, these names and these losses have become part of our collective memory.
This is why this documentary matters. It preserves what happened. It gives the world a record of crimes against humanity that must never be erased, rewritten or forgotten. The world needs to see it.
Quite frankly, fuck the sanitised clips of coffee shops, restaurants and people going about their daily lives when they are used by propagandists to pretend that everything in Iran is somehow fine. Of course people continue to live. They have to. They laugh, work, fall in love and find moments of happiness because life continues even under the most unbearable circumstances. Their ability to keep living does not erase what has been done to them.
Freedom has already cost Iranians an unimaginable amount, and we still do not have it. Too much blood has been spilled. Too many lives have been taken. Too many families have been left carrying a grief that will never leave them. Those lives cannot simply become numbers, statistics or memories that fade as the rest of the world moves on. They were people who were loved. They had families, friends, hopes, plans and lives that should have continued.
Their blood cannot have been spilled for nothing. There must be truth, accountability and justice, and we have a responsibility to remember.
Lest we forget.
