Dawn's amber fingers grip the world in their fiery grasp, illuminating that which wishes it were obscured by darkness. An insect with far too many legs and eyes scuttles for the safety and cold of compressed loam. The coming storm turns amber to grey, and tainted water flows.
@USMNTX His height would have nothing to do with it. Millions of middle schoolers every year get their dreams crushed after dedicating their lives to basketball, then never getting the growth spurt they need to ever be good at it.
@FavianRenkel It sets a tone. Messi doesn't see it as a serious league, and he just does what he wants within it. He sees it as a playground for him and his buddies to stay fit for a little while longer.
@Sebastrigol@ManagerTactical "EU is light-years ahead of the rest of the world" they say with a starting lineup featuring 6 from the Americas, 2 Africans, and 3 from Europe (only one is the nationality of the country the team is in)
@5isDaBest@11Yanks I love this copium stat because not only does it ignore assists and discount actual goal scored, he was also out with injury for the entirety of december, missing games verus mid and bottom table teams.
@zackmully @ProspectsUsmnt They are doing well, but "balling out" is certainly a stretch. They have both been in and out of the starting 11 all season, with Weston recently finding a run of starts. There is definitely some anti american bias there, but I don't think that there is much more to it.
@ProspectsUsmnt He would be heralded as one of our greatest, but not a smoking gun type player that can be held up and said to be in any arguments for "world class" or elite tiers. His club situation has just been way too shaky for so long.
@RChurch44@reformussoccer@ussoccer All that to say. The market WAS there. It was real, and it could have thrived. Memphis has a huge soccer first population just like many other major US cities. They just squandered the opportunity.
@RChurch44@reformussoccer@ussoccer I'm from the 901 Area that just folded. The team was not doing well, but the inaugural season was incredible. There was real hype behind the team at first, but a mix of poor marketing, lack of Div 1 pro status, and playing in a dilapidated baseball stadium all made holes in it.
@USMNTSoccerCard@jibringhurst@scuffedpod Maybe, but it feels like a bad look. One would think with his current form, he would be unbenchable, but with a Portuguese manager in charge and Felix in his spot, who knows?
@Milan4eva1026 This was talked about a lot recently. If it's an American versus a European and the manager has to make some choices. American on the chopping block every time, in form or not.
Or maybe it is just some Portuguese nepotism here.
