It's Peri Sona, your chaotic good half-mimic! I might bite, and I've always got an eye on you, but that doesn't mean I'm a bad person!
So go on...open that chest

I *completely* forgot about my dalliance with Zevran because it was a one time thing, we were clear it didn't mean anything, etc. THEN at the coronation he makes a joke about not letting anyone know about the queen's elven concubine or something and I had the biggest double take

[Peri Sona @PeriSonaVtuber]

In my first run of DA:O I was smitten by Alistair, then Zevran showed up and my eyes wandered...with Alistair's romance being SUCH a slow burn I got swayed by Zev but immediately went back to Alistair, royal ending and all. With that context here's the funny part:

Everyone share ur fave BioWare gameplay experience anecdotes with me please

[Peri Sona @PeriSonaVtuber]

I've been seeing things about the DA Keep maybe shutting down so I'm trying to set up a "forever save" but it's so hard?? Like what do you mean I have to pick my "favorite" options and screw the rest?? Certain choices I do prefer, sure, but my different saves still mean so much

My Dragon Age art through the years 💔

[marisa⁷ ⚢ @femmeshepard]

idk about everyone else but this only makes me want to replay mass effect and dragon age even more like i want to revisit these worlds and create new oc’s and kiss hot people and stop the blight and the reapers all over again

Reminder:
- EA cancelled the Single Player Dragon Age 4 in development from 2015-2017

- Pushed them to create a live service Dragon Age because of trend chasing. They considered multiplayer the future of gaming, "nobody plays single player games anymore" except then Jedi Fallen Order released with huge success and they pivoted again.

- After 3 years of development on Live Service Age from 2018-2021, EA & Bioware decide to remove the Multiplayer component but instead of rebooting a second time they gave them 18 months to rip out all that live service work and have them make it a single player game AGAIN, at a significant disadvantage to meet expectations.

- Six years of wasted development now, when a lot of the series veterans had been laid off or quit out of frustration with EA along with numerous management and staff changes. Among these names are David Gaider, Mike Laidlaw, and later before Veilguard's release Mary Kirby. Her departure was an abysmal sign for the future of DA before this next game had even released.

- This resulted in the announcement of Dragon Age Dreadwolf in 2022, later renamed Veilguard which retained the scars of it's live service development when it released in 2024 and was never the true game Bioware would have given us if they hadn't been constantly fucked around.
We could and should have had the intended Dragon Age 4 before 2020, instead it took almost a DECADE for the follow up.

The worst things these companies do is trend chase something, with zero foresight on temporary trends. By the time you release that game public opinion has shifted. Rocksteady's Suicide Squad as a clear example of this too.
Just let creative people make something they are passionate about and stop putting them in boxes. Let developers make something real by giving them time and resources to deliver something memorable with a clear goal, not a post mortem example like Anthem on how not to develop a game.

EA has been fucking over Bioware basically since they acquired them. Issues with Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard aside as yes all three have their issues and you'll even have people going back to Mass Effect 3/DA2/Inquisition with issues as well; a lot of this comes from a long long period of EA pushing Bioware into a corner and then watching them be a punching bag for it. It also comes from internal schisms within Bioware where there was a strange Mass Effect vs Dragon Age rift and David Gaider said they may as well have been two different studios with how the culture was different, plus the writers getting fucked over at every turn.

People taking the lowest hanging fruit possible and are gonna just say it was Veilguard, it was Anthem, it was Andromeda etc that sealed their fate when in actual reality it was a long list of issues going back 15+ years that led to the issues within those games in the first place.

I guess I just wish it - and Bioware themselves - had been allowed to end with more grace, on their terms, and with proper goodbyes. Not with these sickly sweet words because we all know the greed of big companies bled them dry...

[Peri Sona @PeriSonaVtuber]

I apologize for the random Bioware spam that will be coming from me today; I'm more upset than I expected to be. Dragon Age Origins was one of if not *the* first experience I had with western rpgs and elves and all that and I fell in LOVE with the series. It's a very comfy series

[Peri Sona @PeriSonaVtuber]

spent thinking about how my Inquisitor's story may end for the decade before Veilguard because I knew it wasn't over (especially because I'd romanced a certain wolf my first run and had the heartbreak of that). I adore this series, I knew eventually it'd have to end...

thank you for everything bioware thank you for dragon age and its stories and world and characters ♥️

[Peri Sona @PeriSonaVtuber]

Anthem was obviously a huge miss, and like I kinda mentioned Andromeda and Veilguard were both poorly received for various reasons meaning Bioware hadn't exactly had a "win" in a long time and were struggling financially I'm sure, plus firing big names and I'm just......fuck 😭

[Peri Sona @PeriSonaVtuber]

Fuck EA, dude. Regardless of your opinions on Veilguard or even Andromeda, the fact that there will NEVER be another Dragon Age game absolutely guts me - and my heart goes out to the ME fans (I like them too, just prefer DA). I knew things were declining but...fuck dude

[Peri Sona @PeriSonaVtuber]

@Sinbadstardust I don't usually get the drawing urge (because I don't really draw) BUT I do get the equivalent urge for whatever I'm doing - "just finish that one part of the game" "go record this thing" "edit a little longer" hell even "clean" sometimes lol

[Peri Sona @PeriSonaVtuber]

@ren_live2d Wait that's an option??? I had the WORST time rigging my mouth even with tutorials, guess if I ever dip my toes back in I'll need to try it out 👀👀

[Peri Sona @PeriSonaVtuber]

It has been a LONG time since I've started Hades from the beginning, but I decided to do it for a fun and random series on the channel and as of today I have completed the first run of the save!!

Keep an eye out, Gremlins 👀 the next couple weekends are gonna be ~hell~
