an mayou

A writer of things, a lover of wisdom, even if it's not true.

[an mayou @perlygates]

dirty window
the bird
who tries to get in
the me
who longs to fly out

[an mayou @perlygates]

pulled by the moon
i am an ocean wave
tumbling through the night sky

[an mayou @perlygates]

somedays
the syrup
barely drips
from my
tapped-out heart

[an mayou @perlygates]

when the night
takes on a deeper meaning...
what's left
what is not

[an mayou @perlygates]

ink
taking the shape of sorrow
how many more drops
do we shed
before the paper disappears

[an mayou @perlygates]

this latest version
of the truth
two songbirds
in an open field
singing, singing

[an mayou @perlygates]

summer fruit
picking the sweetest
thing you said

[an mayou @perlygates]

racing the train
...a night sky
without stars

[an mayou @perlygates]

checking to make sure i too am watching #AprilTheGiraffe

[an mayou @perlygates]

ladies at the beauty salon
all this talk
about guns

[an mayou @perlygates]

again, disturbing news
i dream that guns
become raindrops

[an mayou @perlygates]

the unspoken heart
a bluebird
lifts its wings

[an mayou @perlygates]

leaving you
one
piece
at
a
time

[an mayou @perlygates]

how to start a river

[an mayou @perlygates]

every star
knows how to listen
god-night

[an mayou @perlygates]

is this what lovers do?
the vibrato of sunlight
flickers
on the tips
of tall grasses

[an mayou @perlygates]

fragile night
whose arms will hold
these stars in place

[an mayou @perlygates]

the lady on the plane
with a romance novel
her heart will quicken with his touch
as i fasten my seatbelt
and sigh

[an mayou @perlygates]

autumn chill
last night’s mascara
around my eyes
