@KenyaPower_Care@KenyaPower As residents of Kiratina in Ruiru subcounty we have been requesting for the transformer to be secured but nobody took it serious. Yesterday it finally blew up and now we don't have power. Please help
@Ramah_Nyang Mum isn't employed but in our family she used NHIF most. Because she couldn't buy any private insurance. Until Apri when it stopped working it's been a struggle for all of us coz her drugs are very expensive
@KenyaPower_Care@KenyaPower this is the state of a high voltage transformer in Kiratina primary in Ruiru. With only one week to schools reopening. There are live wires sparking endangering the lives of everyone. As residents we need this transformer secured immediately.
Inside Kiambu's Most Neglected School
โHi Nyakundi. People's Ombudsman thank you for the good work you are doing to make our society and country better. Kindly expose the state of Kiratina Primary School in Ruiru Constituency. It is the most neglected school in Kiambu County and it is not surprising that it is among the worst-performing.
The school compound is full of snakes yet there are pupils attending the school every day and playing in the compound. Classes are full of potholes and no improvement has been done since they were funded by LATF funds long before the new constitution. The pit latrines are full and one can literally see the quantity deposited and where it has been deposited if you turn back after using the filthy latrine. You will be lucky if a snake doesn't peep to say thank you.
Last year when the Governor visited to distribute fertilizer to residents in the school compound the first meeting was called off for what was communicated as logistics but rumors have it that it was because there were no decent toilets.
Governor Wamatangi and the area MCA Dan Gitau promised to come back to address the challenges in the school but have never kept their word.
The school is inaccessible, especially during the rainy season.
The access road to the school is maintained by the parents and community around the school through contributions yet they pay taxes and Ruiru Constituency receives CDF funds every year.
During recent El Niรฑo rains, the school was inaccessible due to poor drainage. Compound and classes were waterlogged.
The school is fenced using excavated cotton dumpings as a desperate measure by the school head teacher to protect the school land from grabbers.
A transformer near the school fell on the school offices and KPLC machines could not access the location due to the condition of the road. They had to mobilize men around to assist through their manpower to lift the transformer.
The school is less than 40 kilometers from the CBD but completely isolated and neglected. The school management is complacent, but there is hope that the new headteacher will change the fortunes of the school if last year's performance is anything to go by. The headteacher needs support, especially from those in offices responsible for providing infrastructure and roads.
Through you, help the community reach the area MP Simon King'ara who has completely neglected the school and its surroundings.
The Ministry of Education should also audit how funds disbursed to the school over the years for free education have been utilized.
Nothing has changed in the school for decades. See the attached photos.
As usual, Sir, please hide my identity.โ
@KenyaPower_Care@KenyPowerHelp we haven't had power since yesterday at 3. Kiratina Primary in Ruiru. The transformer has been sparking the whole day. All we have received is promises to visit the whole day but nobody showed up. Kindly support
@Kaysparks_@Goddie_Ke No body is going to congratulate this guy for marrying a successful Luo lady? And ge still rose through the ranks. Like I said goodness is in people not their tribes
@KenyaPower_Care how long does it take to send a team to respond to such an emergency??? Next thing the transformer will be missing yet we have been calling since morning for a rescue team
@kipmurkomen@RailaOdinga Are we talking about the same parliament that we trusted with the finance bill? They went a head passed it and are now waiting for a 13 percent pay rise. You should know that actually the biggest problem is having a controlled parliament
@MillicentOmanga For someone like you who has always had everything because of the same politics you might not understand. It stopped being political, we only need to be able to provide for our kids
