Sky conditions on April 8, 2023, for select cities at or near the time of day that totality will occur locally on April 8, 2024. (This is NOT a forecast.)
@rbrandtraffic@KMOV Oh yeah! Still trying to get some numbers to showcase. Perry County expects a lot of visitors. I’m told its population doubled for the 2017 Eclipse.
785 days until the next Great American Eclipse over North America. Facts:
- Maximum duration is nearly 2x the 2017 eclipse
- 32 million Americans already live inside the path of totality
- Many inspired by 2017 so interest will be off-the-charts

In exactly 3 years, on 10/14/23, an annular, or "ring of fire," solar eclipse will occur in the U.S. The path of annularity will sweep across 8 states from Oregon to Texas. This event will be a good warm-up for the big total solar eclipse that will occur just six months later.
I recently republished 19th century British astronomer E. Walter Maunder's 'An Old Record of the Corona', in which he hypothesized that a bird-like pattern seen in the sun's corona during some #TotalSolarEclipses inspired #WingedSunSymbols.

An annular solar eclipse crosses Africa and Asia in about 12 hours. We won't see any of it from North America but come October 14, 2023, we'll have a beautiful annular solar eclipse from Oregon to Texas! Where will YOU be?
In one week, the next major eclipse event occurs. This will be an annular solar eclipse in parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. We'll have an annular in the U.S. in 2023, which will be a nice preview for the grand-daddy of all eclipse events, a total solar eclipse in 2024.
