In January 2026, Iran’s internet was shut down. With no foreign journalists on the ground and no independent reporting, much of what happened was recorded by the people who were there. Across the country, people filmed protests, shootings, arrests, the wounded, the dead and the aftermath. Their footage reached the outside world in fragments, often without clear dates, locations or context.

This Is Our Story brings these images together with first-hand accounts from eyewitnesses, survivors and bereaved families, revealing how events unfolded and what people experienced. The documentary restores context to isolated clips, preserves testimony and creates a fuller record of what happened. English subtitles make that record accessible beyond Iran.

In January, Iran went dark. The internet was cut, independent reporting was suppressed and foreign journalists were kept out.

What happened next was recorded largely by the people who were there.

This Is Our Story brings together footage filmed across Iran with first-hand accounts from eyewitnesses, survivors and bereaved families. Much of this material reached the outside world only in fragments. The four-part series places those images back into sequence and, where possible, verifies when and where they were recorded.

The aim is simple: to preserve the evidence, give the footage its context, and create a fuller record of what happened.

With English subtitles throughout, the series is intended for audiences inside and outside Iran.

مستند «This Is Our Story» با زیرنویس انگلیسی منتشر می‌شود تا جهان صدای مردم ایران را بشنود و ببیند در دی‌ماه چه بر آنان گذشت؛ به‌ویژه صدای کسانی که برای ثبت و رساندن این تصاویر، جان و امنیت خود را به خطر انداختند. بدون شجاعت آنان، بسیاری از وقایع آن روزها هرگز دیده نمی‌شد.

بخش بزرگی از آنچه به جهان رسید، تصاویری پراکنده و اغلب بدون خط زمانی و زمینهٔ کافی بود. این مستند، تصاویر و روایت‌های دست‌اول را در یک روایت پیوسته کنار هم قرار می‌دهد تا مخاطبان غیرفارسی‌زبان نیز بتوانند روند وقایع، ابعاد سرکوب و آنچه مردم تجربه کردند را بهتر درک کنند.

زیرنویس انگلیسی برای این است که زبان، مانعی برای شنیدن این شهادت‌ها نباشد و تصاویری که با چنین هزینه‌ای ثبت و به بیرون از ایران فرستاده شدند، به مخاطبان بیشتری برسند.
