We are not sitting out this election cycle just because things got tough. If you want to fight for progressives in local and state races, fill out this form to keep in touch: https://t.co/uxbFVleS08
Choose to fight only righteous fights, because then when things get tough—and they will—you will know that there is only one option ahead of you: Nevertheless, you must persist.
If you're feeling nervous about the House + Senate, get out there and volunteer! @SisterDistDC has free buses going from DC to PA, MD-06, VA-02 and VA-07.

Want to help make positive change in your community? Consider running for ANC!
Check out the new district boundaries (and if other people are running) below.
Nomination papers due back by Aug 10.
I'm happy to announce that OpenANC has been updated for the 2022 elections!
You can locate yourself on the new ANC map, see which old districts overlap each new district, and announce your candidacy for 2022.

Still time to check that ballot and vote in person if it hasn't been accepted. We're hearing lines are short at the polling locations, so head on over by 8pm!
The Metropolitan Washington PAC which is spending money to help elect @FaithForWard5DC and @EJGoulet is @AOBAMetro, a trade association for landlords and property mangers. Let's take a look at some of their donors...
Lots of respect for the W3 candidates suspending their campaigns this week.
Campaigns are tiring & expensive. No one entered this race intending to drop out. It takes a lot of integrity to put your own interest/ego aside and do what you think is best for the community.
Lots of movement in the D.C. Council's Ward 3 race over the last 18 hours: 3 candidates have dropped out and endorsed @MatthewFrumin in hopes of consolidating progressive support to take on @EJGoulet. Also: @tweetelissa and @Janeese4DC endorsed Frumin. https://t.co/K5zAVWbURO
Is @victoryfund going to acknowledge that they spent $71k in independent expenditures on Salah Czapary in Ward 1 and $0 on their other endorsed candidate, Zachary Parker in Ward 5? #DCision22
1. Stadium subsidies are a giveaway to the rich and never deliver on meaningful job creation.
2. the team should have been named the Washington Department of Football.
what salah describes as his "plan" here (seize ATVs as they park/refuel) is literally MPD's current strategy. it's not working. anyone who's been to a community meeting knows this. his whole campaign is just trying to fraud people into thinking there's an on/off button for crime
I need to talk about exceptionally well-intended people who give money to candidates who have zero chance of winning but sound great on Twitter.
You're lighting money on fire.
I need this thread to spread so people understand how to better use limited donor funds.

So while Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) may not have officially endorsed Faith, all the people they have in the past are endorsing her. All the education privatizers of the past and present have come out for her. Question is: what do they expect in return? Can’t be good.
Your periodic reminder that DFER is a PAC funded by wall street investors in for-profit charter schools, who ultimately want to suck your tax dollars out of the education system and into their pockets.
They'll be supporting any candidate who will help 'em achieve that.
The pro-charter group Democrats for Education Reform is back in D.C. politics, this time with mailers backing Phil Mendelson.
They’re not as inflammatory as their ads in the Ward 4 race 2 years ago, but their mailers are still missing important context:

@deliangoncalves@OrangeVo40@stonewalldems51@wusa9 Could you please update the headline to more accurately reflect that @OrangeVo40 only apologized to himself for his words "coming out wrong" but did not apologize to Zachary or the @stonewalldems51 and spent all weekend arguing with everyone who explained the harm he'd done?
@JoshuaLopez202@maustermuhle@BarrasReport@ZacharyforWard5 refused to participate because the questions were overly simplistic in their framing. Meanwhile he's received pretty much every other endorsement... You can read his reasoning and his detailed, nuanced answers to the questions asked here: https://t.co/P8mdlwJcQq
Still stunned that Vincent Orange chose the Stonewall Dems(!) forum for a shameful, unprovoked attack on @ZacharyforWard5 's decision to be public about his sexual orientation.
If VO wasn't being outright homophobic, he was at minimum showing catastrophically poor judgement.
Do people have credit card bills and mortgage payments and medical debt? Of course. But the government doesn't own that debt and make money off of you paying it back. Getting rid of that debt would mean writing massive checks to banks instead of just not collecting on their debt
One thing that always gets lost in the conversation is...the government owns this debt. There is no check being written with your tax dollars.
In many cases they already made their money back (AND MORE) from the interest paid by borrowers.
“There is no single action the president can take all by himself that would have such a profound effect on racial justice in this country," @ewarren tells @latimes.
Here's the case for canceling student loan debt for tens of millions of Americans ASAP: https://t.co/io7GFoGLCY
Forgiving student debt is a massive windfall to the rich, to the college educated, and most of all to the corrupt university administrators of America. No bailouts for a corrupt system. Republicans must fight this with every ounce of our energy and power.
