Some folks don’t believe that a “principled AI company” would destroy books after they suck out all the information for their models, even one-of-a-kind books and manuscripts.
Here it is admitted in open court.
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “There’s an intellectual scientific vacuum that is descending upon the US and that has consequences. If you’re okay with the US losing its scientific leadership, you will get the country you voted for. That country is one where we will no longer innovate. We will be less secure, less healthy, and less wealthy because some community of people who influence what this country is do not see the value of science”
U.S. taxpayers spend about $2 billion every year on Medicaid for Amazon and Walmart employees, subsidizing the companies that refuse to adequately pay hundreds of thousands of workers, or give them healthcare.
Amazon and Walmart are two of the most profitable companies in the country — generating $100 billion in profits last year according to Popular Information — but many of their workers still qualify for Medicaid because their pay is near (or below) the poverty line.
And that corporate greed is facilitated in part because the people who run these companies deliberately lean on the government, getting corporate welfare to cover their refusal to give workers what they need and deserve.

Jesus’ harshest words in the gospels wasn’t towards prostitutes, other religions, or undocumented immigrants.
Jesus’ harshest words were towards the rich and religious who used God’s words to justify exploitation and oppression.
Yet many want us to believe the opposite.
I saw a post on Reddit that said that “The underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.” And I don’t think I’ve ever seen AI described so incisively.
New rule: if you pay your employees so little they can’t afford food, your company can’t buyback stocks, payout dividends, and ceo pay drops to zero. Trillion dollar companies run and owned by billionaires. No one should be poor working for these assholes.
The corrupt Trump administration has just admitted to withholding taxpayer dollars from states based on how they voted.
Last I checked we were a democracy, not a dictatorship.
Where the hell is Congress?
THIS DATA IS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY.
PERCENTAGE OF AMERICANS WHO ARE MARRIED AND OWN A HOME AT AGE 30:
1960: 52%
1970: 48%
1980: 45%
1990: 43%
2000: 35%
2010: 25%
2025: 12%
The number of Amazon workers relying on food stamps and Medicaid nearly TRIPLED between 2020 and 2025.
Jeff Bezos is worth $257 billion and has a $500 million yacht.
He can afford to pay his workers a living wage.
While Jeff Bezos got $46 billion richer since Trump's election, Amazon pays wages so low that it's a top employer of workers on Medicaid & Food Stamps paid for by your taxpayer dollars.
That's right. You subsidized his $500 million yacht.
The real welfare queen in America is Jeff Bezos worth $267 billion.
Corporate greed is Google quadrupling its quarterly profit to $112 billion, getting an $18.4 billion tax break last year & laying off 13,500 workers since 2023, while its founders, Larry Page & Sergey Brin, got $270 billion richer since Trump's election.
It never trickles down.
Walmart underpays employees so much that they qualify for food stamps & then their employees buy groceries at Walmart, thereby putting their employees in poverty while profiting off of it & then get a TAX CREDIT for hiring a person on food stamps.
Diabolical
Huge corporations like Amazon, Walmart, and Uber are among the top employers of SNAP and Medicaid recipients.
Meanwhile, their CEOs are raking in multi-million dollar pay packages.
How is this not a bigger scandal?
Since 2020, Walmart spent $37.6 billion in stock buybacks—enough to give all their workers a $23,550 bonus.
Instead, Walmart pays wages so low that many of their workers need Medicaid & SNAP paid for by taxpayers.
The real welfare queen is the Walton family worth $485 billion.
It was communists when I was a kid. Then it was radical Muslims. Then Mexicans. MS13. Then any immigrant. Now we’re back to communists.
They have to have a boogeyman to scare the population so we don’t notice the fact that they’re stealing our democracy and robbing us blind.
The number of Amazon workers on Medicaid and SNAP has tripled since 2020.
And gig work corporations have shot to the top of the list of companies where workers need government aid.
Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Grubhub and Instacart — these companies combined now have more workers on SNAP and Medicaid than Amazon, Walmart, or McDonald's.
Corporations underpay workers, don't provide healthcare, and outsource core worker needs to the government.
