“I’m not saying you can’t drive a car: what I’m questioning is having someone subsidise my decision to drive and park.”
Parking is being managed in cities “like a badly-run charity,” & that money comes from somewhere.
From Australia, relevant everywhere. https://t.co/C84dwNVXcB
Waltham Forest have suppressed demand for driven trips by reducing the capacity in their motor vehicle network based on simple #TravelDemandManagement i.e. demand for short driven trips is *highly elastic*. #NotRocketScience
@bikewalkperth Another example of local government ignoring Australian design standards. These new parking rails in Subiaco can be removed with a socket wrench in less than 60 seconds.
@Perth_Traffic No. Drive for the conditions. Although 40 km/h is still legal in WA school zones, a lower speed may be appropriate. Telling people to drive at 40 is irresponsible.
Surprising. New protected cycle lanes on Spring Street, Perth. Not finished yet, needs line marking. In 2018 an unpopular proposal was painted lanes. Things are looking up.

Your walk to the train station will be a second-class experience all week because car drivers are being notified about two nights of road work. #townofcambridge
@bikewalkperth Construction workers usually get more protection from motor vehicle traffic than someone riding a bike to work, or children riding to school.
@bikewalkperth Ask Main Roads WA if the existing chain mesh fence will comply with safety regulations once it becomes a “worksite” while the upgrade is happening.
"In a time when we should be decreasing traffic and the footprint of our vehicles to help address this climate emergency and 40,000 deaths/year on our roads, these supersized vehicles are being normalized to do the exact opposite." @tomflood1
