🇯🇵 AI Warfare Enters Japanese Politics
Japan is witnessing growing controversy after reports alleged that AI-generated political campaigns played a major role in reshaping the country’s political landscape.
During the October 2025 LDP leadership race, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s camp was accused of using AI tools to mass-produce between 100 and 200 videos daily targeting rivals Shinjiro Koizumi and Yoshimasa Hayashi, depicting them as “incompetent puppets.”
Months later, similar AI-driven campaigns allegedly targeted opposition figures, portraying them as “Chinese puppets” and “weak politicians,” before the LDP secured a historic 316-seat landslide victory.
The controversy has intensified following Japan’s deep AI cooperation agreement with Palantir last year, fueling fears that advanced AI systems are becoming powerful tools for political influence and mass opinion manipulation.
