Why is pest control the best industry?
Each tech can service >$400k in a year
Quarterly services cost $125 and take 20 minutes to complete
Compare it to trash pickup where they charge $40 a month and service weekly.
Labor is cheap
Products are cheap
Margins are insane
@Kevin_Root 1 usually stops them initially. Obviously won’t keep them out forever.
We generally recommend quarterly services to get a warranty but 1 will stop the initial activity.
Remodeling? Building a new home?
Get a termite pretreatment done on your home.
Depending on your area will likely cost $250-$500 and could save you thousands of dollars down the road.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
At this stage, a professional treats the bottom 18” of all the wood that touches the concrete.
The wood soaks up this product and protects it long term.
If termites find your home, they will eat this treated wood and die off before they can set up shop and do any damage.
If your builder isn’t doing this on every home, they are cutting corners.
𝕏 I need YOUR help!!
Our entire house is down to the studs.
What should I be doing in THIS phase (before drywall) that most don’t think of?
The best I’ve come up with is running Cat6A cabling…
@CoFoundersNik@cesarworks Came here to say this!
Dwindling on the side of your home should cost less than $500 and protect your home from subterranean termites.
Best investment you can make at this stage. Could save you $5k+ down the road.
@TXHustle101 Does this work for LSA as well?
We don’t run ppc google ads.
Grok bit would either need to constantly update this or something. Thought to keep updated when we adding 20-100 new customers a day
We’ve been dealing with customers calling through LSA for years. Here’s how we have been successfully battling it.
Mass text/ email them all.
Say something like “we want to provide you the best service at the lowest price. To help keep our advertising costs down, please save this number and call it directly if you ever need anything #”
You can automate it to do this directly after new people sign up.
Some people will still hammer that LSA line but it does help significantly.
My partner and I have a “daily brief”slack channel for just the two of us.
We connected ChatGPT and can have it search things here. This is especially helpful for payroll where people may have taken PTO, worked a partial shift, or overtime.
I’m out of town for the weekend.
Yesterday was a crazy one.
One thing after another.
@TimFlynnLeary The other option is build your own software.
Unfortunately too many have gone that path and thought it would work out.
Just rebuild the systems around your software lol
Everybody says “just answer the phone” and your business will grow.
What percentage of phone calls are you actually answering every day?
Bonus points if you also share the volume of calls you are receiving. I’m just curious.
We were looking at a software last week that would let leads book directly on our schedule.
We decided not to for two main reasons:
1- pest control can easily be sold over the phone. We don't need an inspection on the home 99% of the time. Sounds like a perfect use case for AI to book jobs right?
Not really. In industries like plumbing and HVAC where all the scheduler needs to do is book an inspection, it works great.
We are fully working through a sales cycle and need to close the deal, not just book an inspection.
2- Colorado has a "click to cancel" law. If you can sign up for a recurring service online, you have to allow customers to also cancel online in one click.
Since none of our customers currently sign up online, we don't have to offer this simple cancellation. We give a discount on the initial service if they agree to a one or two year plan. If they cancel before that term is up, they need to reimburse that as a cancel fee.
Also, when they call in to cancel, if we can have a conversation with them, we can usually find a better plan for them, resolve concerns, or find another way to keep them happy as customer (and continue providing them value).
We lose that with a click to cancel.
In a race to add AI and other softwares, I encourage everybody to fully consider how each change will affect the company.
It's really easy to break laws you might not even know about. In this case, we may have closed more leads but opened us up for much higher attrition.
@TimFlynnLeary You must make a lot more money than me lol
If I can hang out with my biz partner for 2 straight days and take home $3500 to my family (on top of what the rest of the company makes) I’d hop in crawlers and attics 6 days a week lol
All my guys are booked.
Hopped in a few crawlspaces and did some termite work with my partner the last two days.
$8400 in revenue - rough math 85% net.
Dirty dirty work but the board man gets paid.
