It was a very special Erev Shabbat service at @JewsInYork as we were celebrating PRIDE Month in York and @jewishcultureuk ! As ever Rabbi Elisheva was in her element and at one stage had everyone up dancing which I noticed brought a smile to the faces of our interfaith guests! With thanks to social action lead @petecsimms for organising, Shaan & Eve for helping with kiddush and other things behind the scenes! Finally it was great to welcome Stephen Bonnlander from Dublin. @BoardofDeputies@jewishcultureuk@SaraRad67@JewishChron@JewishTelegraph (@rabbiellisarah please note dancing!)
A truly memorable Salford HMD event last night which I will post about later. I was delighted Councillor Hannah Robinson-Smith and Jessica Pathak encouraged @SaraRad67 and myself to "host" the @BoardofDeputies Jewish Living Experience Exhibition as part of the HMD event, it certainly added to the very special evening. Huge congratulations and thanks to @SalfordCouncil for its strong commitment to HMD. @jessica_pathak@petecsimms@PhilR_R
An excellent catch-up with @SaraRad67@BoardofDeputies Deputy & Community Engagement Manager this afternoon. We discussed my involvement with @faithbelieforum 's LGBTQ+ project, @JewsInYork@MitzvahDay project with @petecsimms & the social action team, @SalfordCouncil HMD (Holocaust Memorial Day) 2026 and of course the Jewish Living Experience Exhibition at Eccles Gateway from 1st-12th December 2025.
I was delighted to meet with Ariel Chapman @KeshetUK 's dynamic CEO to discuss our shared interests in diversity and inclusion. We had so much to talk about and plan for including @BoardofDeputies Jewish Living (JLE) Exhibition when it comes to Eccles Gateway Salford on 1st December 2025. So much to look forward to! @SaraRad67@PhilR_R@SalfordNow@petecsimms

Today, the Board of Deputies alongside communal partners heard from family members of hostages still held in Gaza.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to advocate at every level for the release of the hostages & to ensure the world does not forget them.

I was blown away by all that I saw at the official opening of @Salford_YZ on Saturday! It is a wonderful resource for our young people which does our city proud. The climbing wall, exercise equipment, dance studio (dance as if no one is looking!) cooking and much more is awesome! I was delighted to have a conversation with the ever hard working Salford Councillor @teresapepper skills, work & business lead and a @Salford_YZ trustee as we share a passion for inclusion and community cohesion. We talked about many possibilities including supporting LGBTQ+ youth and our disabled youth.

I was so proud to welcome everyone to LGBTQI+ PRIDE meets D/deaf PRIDE at a very special service at @The_LJS Erev Shabbat on Friday, it was a great partnership with DeafShul. Rabbi Rabbi Igor did us proud leading the service with thoughtfulness, Rabbi Indigo's sermon was powerful and thought provoking, very much in the spirit of PRIDE which is often lacking these days. With thanks to Igor, @LiberalJudaism chair Karen Newman and the @The_LJS team for making it happen. @petecsimms@jewishdeaf1@KeshetGLBTJews@BoardofDeputies@SaraRad67@JewsInYork
People living with HIV in the UK continue to have lower life satisfaction and #QualityOfLife than the general population. Despite huge progress in treating and preventing HIV, it remains a stigmatised condition.
We can ensure these fears don't stop them from enjoying their lives
Members of @JewsInYork with their neighbours and friends came together to Celebrate PRIDE in York with a special interfaith erev Shabbat service at the York Unitarians on Friday 6th June. The service was organised by the community’s social action team
It was a joyful service with much singing and at one point Rabbi Elisheva had everyone up dancing which was something else! The service was followed by kiddush, then coffee and cake were served which enabled community members and guests to chat and write messages of hope on the community’s PRIDE flag.
