Hi UK, here they come!
Huge start of bird migration from the Waddensea westwards. Currently an bird migration traffic rate of 9000 birds per km per hour. Enjoy 😉
Birders, we have an absolute treat for you @BBCRadio4 - @DilgerTV@helen_fwilson and Adam Nicolson on the cult of the puffin, how to out-think a greedy gull and the perfect summer night of Shetland bird-watching. https://t.co/0YRZ1yA0Mn
Redshanks at N Hayling, Chichester Harbour this week. Look carefully and you’ll see O+O//YB, ringed in oct 2015 by @PetePotts7 et al less than 3km from the spot I saw it. In 9 yrs it’s only been seen 4 times, twice by me and twice by PP, all within 3km of ringing site #legday https://t.co/3SyBB4R4Xs
Whoa spider on spider! watched a beautiful Marpissa muscosa this evening, hunting around the window of a bird hide @RSPBPulborough and saw it catch and eat another spider, perhaps a Zygiella 🕷️@BritishSpiders
Pholcus doing what they do - that is, eating another spider probably several times its own weight. Even with 7.5 legs, impressive predators.
@BritishSpiders
3 nearly fledged young Grey Herons at Thorney Deeps this morning. Interestingly a pair of Herons were nest-building just a few metres away, just above this brood in the same tree. Same pair double-brooding or a new pair starting after a failure elsewhere? @_BTO
